We're eagerly waiting for 3 more days. It's like booking a car and waiting for delivery! Fiat needs to price it competitively (<10 lakh ex-showroom) and offer a sweet exchange deal for existing Fiat owners. That'll get us to book it instantly!

After all, I have no intentions of buying this car anyway.

And look what I found on the Autocar site. Somebody copy pasting my post! Guess Team-BHP posts will now have to carry a legal disclaimer and copyright infringement warning.

Fiat India has postponed the launch of the Punto Evo Abarth in India from October 10th to October 19th, 2015.

Quote:
It was speculated that the Abarth Punto will be launched on October 10; however, our sources reveal that the vehicle will go on sale on October 19, 2015.

Dealers have already started taking pre-orders for the performance oriented hatchback at a token amount of INR 20,000.

Oh no! I've been impatiently waiting for the last ten days and now the wait increases to another nine days. I'm hoping the car is launched on 10'th and goes on sale from 19'th. Anyway what I am primarily waiting for is in depth review and needles to say waiting for Team-BHP to get their hands on one. Till then it's going to be one impatient wait.

This is such a drool-worthy car! I had been waiting for this since 2012! Does Fiat have a buy-back / exchange service? Wondering if I can buy the Abarth by giving back my Active

Also, how soon would the Abarth accessories start coming into the market? Would love to get the Abarth alloys onto my GP! #TooMuchWishfulThinking

Heck - I am not even in the market, and this delay is bothering me!

Great product aside, given that the vehicles have been tested and bookings have already begun - such constant delays are only going to further kill the enthusiasm a lot of buyers have!

Haha I feel the same way. I'm actually really itching to test drive it TBH. Would be a perfect in-city hatch.

That explains why FIATs don't sell

re: A Close Look: Fiat Punto Abarth. EDIT: Now launched at Rs. 9.95 lakhs!

With a sub 10 lakh sticker price, Fiat have a chance to hit the nail on the head here. The Polo GTI is also slated for launch, and it has a 1.8 litre turbocharged engine also seen on the Octavia and the Superb, but I can't see how it will cost less than 15 lakhs. Plus, it will most probably be offered only with a DSG gearbox in India. Enthusiasts will, therefore, make a beeline for the Abarth with its six speed manual and VFM factor.

It is still the same 5 speed manual C510 gear box as found in existing FIATs. No six speed, AFAIK
