Re: Datsun launches Go NXT Limited Edition at Rs. 4.1 lakh

If they target Tier II cities and small towns for Go & Go+ in a big way, with such freebies, they stand to win. The metros have changed and the customers are looking for better cars at the expense of additional EMI.
Alto is still sold in large numbers, not because everyone in Bangalore is buying Alto, but because Alto is available for sale in nook and corner of the country, where people are looking for budget mode of transport.
IMHO, there is no need for selling Datsun cars in any metro. They can focus all their attention in Tier-II cities and towns alone. For Metros they have Nissan / Renault cars in their portfolio anyway.

Can't they give any of the safety features instead of such additions which are easily available otherwise. An ABS picked up from Micra which shares the same engine would have been worth here.

To me this seems to be an attempt to move the already produced / unsold inventory at their plant, which has been taken on the assembly line once again to bring these changes. I'm stupid !!

Anyways, a good move to get some footfall !

Totally agree with this. Datsun Go failed the global NCAP crash test and got a zero-star rating! They should correct this first before adding parking sensors.

The Go’s body shell is so unstable that it would be pointless to include airbags in the car.

Re: Datsun launches Go NXT Limited Edition at Rs. 4.1 lakh

While the Engine configuration is significantly bigger for its segment, the reason Go can be offered at such a price is due to its Spartan interiors, and cost cutting which consumers nowadays would not accept it.
By adding Airbags / ABS it will only push the price further. The easiest way to move stock is by adding a few accessories at reduced price, and throw offers such as 1 gram gold coin. This is better than giving away 50K discount on an already low-priced car. The marketing team probably were hired from TV showrooms to get such ideas!
