I am sure it should be available for sure by this time next year.
Hyundai needs to pull up their socks and try to regain the market in a 'struggling' segment where except Ciaz and City (in its petrol avatar), hardly anything is selling. The VAG group has suspended sales on manual diesels and their saving grace has been the DSG. Interestingly the current Verna 4S is still able to sell off a good 1500-1800 per month.

What I was hoping for was a launch sometime this year as I would be in the market in a couple of months for a C2 Sedan with very few options in hand.
Any hope this may be launched this year itself?? I so hope they do launch it. No reports of its production in India yet?

Though I am not going crazy over the design - pictures may not tell the whole story - I feel it looks a little too 'i20ish' which I am again not sure is a good thing or a bad one!

re: The 2017 Hyundai Verna. Launched at 8 lakhs, ex-showroom Delhi

Inspired or Rip off , Current line up of Hyundai cars does look good. I have seen the new i30, i40 (Elantra) and the new Tuscon personally and they look really nice, and is working for their sales as well.

And here in UK and Ireland, frequency of spotting a Hyundai has gone up significantly compared to 2-3 years back, In fact in our company car park, 1 in every 5 cars are Hyundai and 1 will be a Kia. They offer lot of VFM says locals, looks good and feels good . The cheap image is gone.

Well done Hyundai , The new Verna looks good.

A lot of "inspiration" from a Audi and the rear end looks more like Lancer Evo. Overall the car definitely looks good. But the question is around the driving characteristics. Has Hyundai improved them?

re: The 2017 Hyundai Verna. Launched at 8 lakhs, ex-showroom Delhi

The new Verna seems to be combination of different ideologies - front & rear.
While some might say the rear looks too plain jane, but imo, the clean rear does look CLASSY. No chrome please. Thanks!
The front, on the other hand, looks too SPORTY - it suits the i20 in the premium hatch segment but will have to wait & see how the whole package looks in person.
Initial impressions -

PS: The huge grill/air dam on the front is an open invitation to chrome lovers for the concept-inspired mesh grill

Looks more like a mixture of Genesis, i30 and Tucson. Might look good in flesh. Wide angle photograph makes it look weird. Quite appealing I must say!

Looks ugly! Hope it looks much better in flesh. Why oh why Hyundai can't you make a timeless design for your cars , they all start looking stale in half a decade.

Hyundai India re-imports the next-gen 2017 Verna!

Don't quite like how it looks though. The back looks way too plain and The grille is hideous

re: The 2017 Hyundai Verna. Launched at 8 lakhs, ex-showroom Delhi

So this is it! The next-Gen Verna makes a Global debut in China... And overall the car looks like a blend between the existing Verna and the i20, and in a way, loses the individuality that the current car had.

The front and front three-quarters looks a lot like the current Verna

The side is very much like the current Verna too

And the rear with those tail lamps reminds me of the i20

Interiors are matured and nice, and I would expect the black and beige colours for the Indian variant though

It loses the wow factor of the previous gen pre-facelift model. Looks too plain jane to me, inside and out. Still waiting to get wowed like the previous gen civic!

re: The 2017 Hyundai Verna. Launched at 8 lakhs, ex-showroom Delhi

No matter Hyundai`s new design philosophy certainly makes its car looks stylish and flashy. But I am yet to see a car from Hyundai`s stable which has timeless design elements. Hyundai`s cars age very early when compared to its competitors.

Talking about this car, certainly it doesn`t belong to a car with WOW factor nor the one with timeless design. It looks decent enough to give a competition in competitive C segment albeit we need to see how Honda city facelift fares with this car.

re: The 2017 Hyundai Verna. Launched at 8 lakhs, ex-showroom Delhi

It'll be good to see if the highlighted part of text from the IAB article holds true for the Indian launch

Quote:
The 2017 Hyundai Verna will offer an option between 1.4- or 1.6-liter petrol engines developing 100 hp and 123 hp respectively in China. A 6-speed manual is standard, while a 6-speed automatic gearbox is available as an option.

A close look at the Verna from it's unveiling at the Chengdu Auto Show. It is in Chinese.

re: The 2017 Hyundai Verna. Launched at 8 lakhs, ex-showroom Delhi

With clear pictures of the glasshouse and proportions, I am willing to bet (a small sum) that this car is a re-development of the previous gen (RB) rather than a clean-sheet design.

Does anyone have additional info on this? If true, it would mean that the pace of development at Hyundai is tapering off. Perhaps they feel that they have caught up to the competition and do not need to invest in taking big leaps between one generation and the next, given the global economic climate
