Just drove the petrol manual 10 min ago the engine is smooth and peppy but not as eager as honda city or verna Diesel, would start in 2nd gear. Although would need gearshifts as you can hear it beyond 2000 rpm, the clutch is light but very springy it's eager to bounce back. The steering is lighter than the diesel strangely a little vague too at first gear, then it starts weighing up nicely weighs up in 5th gear, the car loves to upshift early. I would say a good choice if you take petrol auto, I still feel seats could have been better. Going to drive the Elantra petrol 2.0 to take my final decision.

The 2017 Hyundai Verna. Launched at 8 lakhs, ex-showroom Delhi

Quick question for those who have seen the Verna. Does the new car have space for water bottles on the rear doors? Stupid.
The old one didn't have it and have always struggled with water bottles if I ever sat in the rear of my friend's car.

Yes it does have on the rear doors and also cup holders on hand rest. I did see it in the test drive. You can also keep it in cooled glove box 😝

For people interested in the Sienna Brown colour, this is the first video review featuring that colour. Review is very small but shows some interesting bits (like Auto Link)

Re: The 2017 Hyundai Verna. Launched at 8 lakhs, ex-showroom Delhi

TD'ed the Diesel Automatic yesterday for a short distance and it sure is a rocket as OP mentioned earlier. I have no experience with Automatic Gearboxes except a Grand i10 at in-laws so can't really compare, but this one is absolutely quick in pickup and acceleration. I never imagined an automatic box in the lower segment can give you such great throttle responses although I have heard a lot about the famed DSGs. You barely notice the shifts and compared to i10 it exceeded my expectations by a fair distance. Another observation, although I am not sure if it is same for all TCs, the gear shift happens at much higher RPM almost 4K if you floor the pedal while it shift early on light/moderate inputs. The ride felt stiff when I tried few bad patches on the road, was not bouncy or unsettling. Planning to do more test drives of Diesel manual and automatic.

Meanwhile the OverDrive review is also out.

Do any of the variants have a telescoping steering? I didn't find any mention of it on the features listed.

Yes the new Verna has bottle holder in each of the 4 doors. Also you are mistaken as the older Verna 2011 onwards had bottle holders too in all the 4 doors.

I am talking about the Fluidic Verna. My friend's car was bought in 2013 December and it doesn't have rear bottle holders. It's the 1.6 CRDI SX variant.

May be the facelift had it.

These pictures have just been sent in on my request.
