re: The 2017 Hyundai Verna. Launched at 8 lakhs, ex-showroom Delhi

Hyundai Motor is considering exporting its new generation mid-size Verna, codenamed HCI, from India starting next year.

Hyundai is looking to ship about 11,000 units of the next gen Verna from India in 2017, and take it to 70,000 by 2019-2020.

An excerpt from the same article:
"We are planning to make a new version of the Verna next year in the second half. India is one of the countries which will see increase exports of the Verna," Hyundai Motor India managing director YK Koo told ET."
Second half would mean Q3 at best, which is roughly an year from now - this would be a lot late imo . And considering that the current Verna did three figure sales in Aug in a segment where the competition (Ciaz+City) have raked in 10K+ sales combined, it would be in Hyundai's best interest to launch it earlier.
Also, I read somewhere that Hyundai might put in a mild hybrid system in the new Verna. If true, it can also benefit from the excise cuts like the Ciaz & possibly undercut the City as well.
This segment might not bring in huge numbers for Hyundai like the Grand i10, i20 or Creta - but with the new Verna, Hyundai has an opportunity to be the segment leader, which does count a lot from a prospective customers pov.

No chance.

Hyundai usually reserves it's big launches for the August-September months, just ahead of the festive season. Be sure that the 2017 Verna won't come before that.

ET had reported that the next-gen Verna and the Tucson SUV will be getting mild hybrid options, but considering how they launched the Elite i20's AT variant today (offered only in the Magna variant, at a price of over Rs 9 lakhs ex-showroom), I won't be holding my breath for this development.

One thing Hyundai hasn't been known for, is VFM pricing. I am pretty sure they will continue with their outrageous stunts regarding variants and pricing.

The Verna is critical to their Indian innings, yes. But now with the Creta settling down nicely in a more-or-less similar pricing segment, they would want the next-gen Verna to perform adequately enough.

4,000-5,000 units a month might be their initial target. For that, it's important to stick to their core values and offer a car which is good enough to take on the immediate competition. Deletion of features, unwanted jacked-up prices and indifferent A.S.S. experiences for customers will hurt them in the long run.

The 2017 Hyundai Verna made its world debut at the 2016 Chengdu Motor Show this month, and Autohome reports that the Honda City challenger will be launched on the Chinese market on October 18. This makes China the first market to receive the global sedan.

re: The 2017 Hyundai Verna. Launched at 8 lakhs, ex-showroom Delhi

The all-new 2017 Hyundai Verna will come with mild-hybrid tech (called ISG start/stop), much like the Maruti-Suzuki Ciaz SHVS, when it is launched in H2 2017 in India.

Quote:
Clearly the South Koreans agree that with the introduction of a mild-hybrid set-up, the car can potentially become one of the most fuel-efficient in its segment. So what is this ‘green’ engineering from Hyundai likely to offer? In all probability, it will feature regenerative braking technology. In other words, the energy generated during braking is converted into electricity and stored in the car’s large-capacity battery. Also connected to the battery is something called an integrated starter generator (ISG) which uses the conserved energy from regenerative braking and helps the car get going after standing still.

The regenerative braking technology, paired with the start/stop feature, which helps to reduce engine from idling, the new Verna stands to considerably improve its fuel-efficiency figures. This move also comes in at the right time for the South Korean carmaker as the government is gearing up to bring Euro VI levels of emission norms in India as soon as possible.

I'm loving the new generation of Hyundai's, coming out with the Fluidic 2.0 design. The new Elantra is absolutely gorgeous and so is the recent Tuscon. This new Verna will definitely re-ignite the fight in the ultra-competitive mid-size saloon segment.

IMHO I think it looks much better than the City and slightly better than the Ciaz

I just wish they bring this in India......on the Petrol Engine-with the Auto Transmission -on the toppest trim. I will divorce Honda if this becomes a reality.
Am I asking for too much .

re: The 2017 Hyundai Verna. Launched at 8 lakhs, ex-showroom Delhi

With Hyundai losing steam in the C segment which is dominated by Honda and Maruti Suzuki, it becomes a priority for Hyundai to launch the next gen Verna.
Reports now indicate the 2017 Verna will be launched in June 2017.

So here is the speculated C segment line up for 2017,

Honda City Face lift - Jan 2017
Maruti Suzuki Ciaz - April 2017
Hyundai Verna - June 2017

Though unveiled in China, Hyundai's Next Gen Verna spied testing in Spain. Probable a EU launch in the offing!

re: The 2017 Hyundai Verna. Launched at 8 lakhs, ex-showroom Delhi

I do not understand as to why the OEMs in India bring in vehicles with less features and options compared to same vehicles sold outside India with more features and options!

From the looks of Hyundai Accent/Verna 2017, it seems this vehicle will go down the same route. Hyundai/KIA has improved their design and quality of the manufacturing for their upcoming new generation vehicles.

Us Indians always get the hand outs compared to folks outside India.

The next Gen Solaris (Russia) revealed, being based on the Chinese Hyundai Verna, revealed during last September's Chengdu Motor Show - tweaked a bit though.
Gets the new Elantra-style grille and the LED daytime running lights at the bottom of the projectors.

Quote:
The base Solaris will come only with two airbags, ESP and front power windows. Higher trims will add side airbags, climate control, entertainment system with navigation, a keyless entry system, a rear view camera, double 12V sockets, heated seats and a heated windshield. It's not yet clear if that infotainment system has Android Auto, but it should.
