re: The 2017 Hyundai Verna. Launched at 8 lakhs, ex-showroom Delhi

Hyundai is no. 4 in the world for all the right reasons and i can see that in the 2017 Accent/Verna.

Accent/Verna is all set to take back the crown from Honda City once launched in India.

Accent/Verna offers better value for money and a bigger bang compared to City.

Rumour: Hyundai to launch next-gen Verna later this year

Thanks to Ehtesham Mahmood for sending this image in. Heartfelt gratitude for sharing it with other enthusiasts via this Team-BHP page!

Hyundai is reportedly planning to launch the next-gen Verna in India later this year. A leaked screenshot of an internal company presentation indicates that Hyundai has slated the Verna (which is internationally named the Accent) for a launch in August 2017.

re: The 2017 Hyundai Verna. Launched at 8 lakhs, ex-showroom Delhi

Had inquired yesterday at a showroom in Pune. He didnt have much information but speculated the launch around Nov 2017, which seems too late to arrive at the party. It effectively would mean they are not looking at Verna sales for the next 6 months or so and have other models to concentrate on.

re: The 2017 Hyundai Verna. Launched at 8 lakhs, ex-showroom Delhi

Hyundai seem to be having its hands full with Creta clocking amazing numbers. Their main focus is on Creta and the newly launched models, so much so that they can choose to not worry about reduced Verna sales till Dusshera period. It can also be explained by the fact that Santro and i10 are no more manufactured.
Question is - what would be the price point and salient features ?
As someone mentioned - "Unchi is the new lambi" in terms of luxury and people choice - Hyundai can skip few features in Creta but with Sedan market slowly shrinking, they would need nothing but feature rich car to attract buyers.

Is it just me or people also find the current Verna quite VFM at today's price point ?

These new grills make cars look a little fragile to me when they dont have the size to match. Long before all these cars, the Zen classic had a similar big grill and looked like it would topple on its front

Hopefully, they will offer class leading features. The new City is still a refreshed City and it might still trump this later when its re-designed.

The all-new 2017 Verna will be launched before the festive season kicks in.

Production is currently underway, and Hyundai India is targeting an August 2017 launch.

Expect a few more goodies than the current-gen model, and a pricing which will take the fight right to the Honda City/Maruti-Suzuki Ciaz.

What does the birdie say regarding the updated (Not facelifted) Creta launch? Is that also around August or earlier than that

Received one more confirmation from an insider that Hyundai is currently targeting a mid-August launch (if everything falls into place by then).

re: The 2017 Hyundai Verna. Launched at 8 lakhs, ex-showroom Delhi

Looks generic and the grey interiors may not go down well with Indians. Elantra hasn't exactly set the charts afire with is grey interior's. So it will finally boil down to new engines, features and how good it is to drive and at least 15-20% lesser than the City. Of all the TD's I did when I was on the look out for my next car the worst was the Verna; low seating, high window line and an uninspiring drive; may be I'm wrong since it was an old TD car must have been abused.

It would have two cars to contend with the City and the Ciaz, so it's going to be tough for Hyundai this time. So Hyundai better get of it's high horse and price it sensibly or it will blown away by the already entrenched 2 C's.

I don't know the numbers, but there is a 6-8 week waiting list everywhere. It used to be almost 4-6 month waiting list when it was launched

It feels VFM compared to the new Corolla / Octavia.

Scoop! Next-gen Hyundai Verna spotted testing in India

Thanks to Gurnoor Singh for sending these images in. Heartfelt gratitude for sharing it with other enthusiasts via this Team-BHP page!

Hyundai has started testing the next-gen Verna in India, as a couple of heavily camouflaged test mules have recently been spotted testing on public roads in the country. We had earlier reported that Hyundai might launch the next-gen Verna in the month of August 2017, based on a leaked image of an internal company presentation.

The test mules were accompanied by a Honda City, which was probably being used as a benchmarking vehicle. Additionally, the spotter mentions that one of the two mules had some damage at the front and was being towed by the Honda City. The City's rear bumper also seems to have some damage as it has been dislodged from the side.

The spotted models have been disguised in heavy camouflage, especially at the front and rear. Since the new-gen Verna will be based on the company's new Fluidic 2.0 design philosophy, it is expected to come with a wider, cascading grille at the front, flanked by swept back headlamps with projector setup. The side profile indicates a sloping roof line and a new set of 5-spoke alloy wheels. At the rear, the car is expected to get larger wrap around taillights, while the number plate housing will be placed in the middle of the boot lid.

re: The 2017 Hyundai Verna. Launched at 8 lakhs, ex-showroom Delhi

A bit OT here. Hyundai is perhaps the only company which aggressively market the design (Fluidic 1, 2, 3 etc.) on which their cars are based. So much so that they dont encourage any customization at all. For instance, afaik you don't see (barring i20) any customization offered in the form of decals, spoilers, body wrappers etc. in any of their cars Accent and above. I am not sure if they themselves believe their designs age well - because, the moment one tries to customize even a bit the entire fluidic design seems to fall apart. The complete absence of accessories actively promoted by them (one doesnt see any mention of accessories on their website) further underscores this point.

Verna should buck this trend by offering some degrees of freedom for buyers to work with. It should offer potential for customization - int(ext)eriors, blessed by Hyundai.

I am stating this despite driving a fluidic elantra myself over the last three years.

Thanks, but why do you think there is a need of additional accessories? I have not seen this across EU, cannot comment about US though. Multiple car companies / multiple offerings but hardly any change in the external look of the car (barring SUVs and highly modded off-roading machines).

Hyundai offers reasonable good design and Fluidic 2.0 has further reduced the lines and creases and looks to be quite good. I am not sure if external changes will make it look any better unless you are taking about large scale investments such as taking it to DC !

Internally their cars are well appointed and good to look at !

Cheers
