Perhaps it was useful for some people who frequently receive calls while driving (but other than taxi drivers, who?)

Other than that, yes, Linea looks like a fantastic car. Not a "Punto with a boot" by any means.

Re: Fiat could replace Linea with Aegea or Grand Siena

Saw the Fiat Aega / Tipo sedan in flesh and it looks no bigger than the City / Ciaz. If Fiat is planning to price it more than the current market leaders as mentioned in one of the earlier posts, consider the new launch dead on arrival.

It looks fab but it has to priced in the 10L bracket for it to get a decent chance to succeed.

It is possible that Fiat may not be planning to launch this in India yet. There is absolute silence about future Fiat models. Only Jeeps are being spoken of.

Re: Fiat could replace Linea with Aegea or Grand Siena

Drove the Tipo in the UK recently, and i must say this would be the beginning of Fiat losing their signature traits. The steering is an EPS which is vague and lifeless, the body is a lot lighter, recently there was crash on one of the highways and the car folded up like a sandwich. Its NCAP rating here in the UK is 3.
The suspension is tuned for comfort and the car rolls quite a bit around corners when driven enthusiastically.

What it does gain from the new philosophy is better interiors and eye candy.

Re: Fiat could replace Linea with Aegea or Grand Siena

At this point in time, Fiat has no concrete plans apart from the compact SUV from Jeep. So the launch of the palio adventure can be buried. Agea on the other hand may not come to India at all given the fact that the pricing will be a huge challenge here . Even if it does, we may end up with a toned down version of it which will again sell in outrageous numbers that will weaken their effort....While I am eager to see a new car in Fiat, this will just be a launch elsewhere and we will be given another version of the Punto in a different avatar

Knowing (and owning) Fiat for several years, let me tell this: by the time they launch the Aegea here, the market will name it "Aged-yeah".

If you thought the Nehruvian Socialist government machinery was the slowest one in taking decisions, update your knowledge please. You missed Fabbrica Italiana Automobili Torino.

With JEEP getting some good traction, I do hope FCA rekindles the Fiat brand in India. Ford and Fiat are the only hopes for people who love driving and cannot afford the Bimmer.

Nothing succeeds like success. I am sure FCA will be rejuvenated by the Jeep Compass success and will do their best to revive the Fiat brand. FCA needs to realise that no automaker has been successful with just 2-3 cars in the line up. They need to be present in most of the segments.

The best recent example I can think of is Mercedes. Just look at the number of models and variants within the models they have. They have a car right from around 30 lakhs OTR upto 4 cr.
