Bosch inaugurates its 14th manufacturing facility in India Bosch has inaugurated its 14th manufacturing facility in India. The new plant, which is located at Bidadi, Bengaluru in the state of Karnataka, will manufacture products for the Diesel Systems division and will be part of Bosch Limited, the flagship company of Bosch in India.
Since the ground breaking in September 2013, around Rs. 340 crores have been invested in the new plant, which has a built up area of around 38,000 square metres. It has scope for further expansion. Karnataka is now home to five production units of Bosch in India.
The construction of the Bidadi plant spans over two phases, with the second phase scheduled to be completed by 2018. The manufacturing facility in Bidadi will produce diesel products that were previously manufactured at the Adugodi plant. It will have over 2,600 personnel working at the facility. The new plant will be the lead plant for the production of singe cylinder common rail pumps along with conventional fuel injection pumps. In 2015, Bosch has started the production of the common-rail fuel injection system pump in Bidadi, and by 2016-17 the production of newer version of common rail fuel injection pump is expected.
In its new plant Bosch will apply Industry 4.0, connected industry, to optimize manufacturing processes. Data analytics and data mining projects make it possible to prevent disruptions to the process and thus gain additional production hours. A layout with lean line design and flow orientation improves the maintenance of machines. Furthermore, Bosch claims the plant has brought in new standards to handle parts and material movement. |
