re: Next-gen Suzuki Baleno (YRA) unveiled. EDIT: Now launched at Rs. 4.99 lakhs

A source said the Baleno unveiled in Frankfurt was made in Manesar. Anyone else heard about this?

See post #80, for 'Made in India'.

Yes it is true. All Baleno's will be exported to Europe and Japan from India.

Looks far better under those gleaming lights.

The A-pillar should be body-colored. Te blackened A-pillar doesn't gel well with the so-called 'liquid-flow' design.

BTW what is this Scorpio-ish car in Suzuki stall?

Is that Jimny? Why on earth Suzuki not bringing it here?

Yes It is Jimny. Seems to be an upgraded version with new colors

I have always wondered the same question

Maybe due to its availability as 2-door version!

I find the 37 liter fuel tank part strange, why would they do that specially when Swift has a 42 liter one and the Baleno is bigger than the Swift. There must be a mistake IMO

Will they provide the same version sold to Europe & Japan to India as well?
If they give a solid build with all round safety equipment, we can really appreciate MS.
However, they have no reason to do that. The premium crossover S-Cross gets at the max 2 airbags for its top version, so the Baleno which will be positioned a few lakhs less (may be 8L OTR for petrol and 9.5L OTR for diesel?) has no reason to do so.
Here we are again - unless there are any to govern the minimum safety requirement, we cannot expect manufacturers to provide anything voluntarily, at the cost of their revenues.

It looks rather understated and classy!
This is a real threat to the "defending champion" ie the i20 and I get the sneaky feeling that we may be looking at the new champion here.

Haha rednikhil, what has been shown is the European version of the Baleno(Made in India). I have a very strong feeling we will be getting a trimmed version of the same.
Check this link. The Indian version will not have projector headlamps imo.

Not sure about the projector headlamps, I believe they could offer it in the top end model. Also we don't know which model is displayed in the T-BHP news article.

That said, yes we might not see all features from the European models to keep prices in check, but hope we get the projector headlamps and those brilliant diamond cut alloys, atleast as an option.

After Ciaz and s cross, it is highly unlikely that projector will not be provided although they may be on top variant only. The European models are produced in Manesar only.

Very Promising upcoming launch from Maruti Suzuki, the 1.0L Boosterjet engine could phase in later, but will not be available at launch.

First Look - AutoCar India
