re: Next-gen Suzuki Baleno (YRA) unveiled. EDIT: Now launched at Rs. 4.99 lakhs

New Baleno platform could see a Crossover from Suzuki.

Quote:
The new Suzuki hatchback is based on a new-generation platform which will underpin more new models from Suzuki. Suzuki is also working on a “crossover” version of the Baleno hatchback. However it remains to be seen if that model comes to our shores.

re: Next-gen Suzuki Baleno (YRA) unveiled. EDIT: Now launched at Rs. 4.99 lakhs

By the look of the latest pics, the following can be deduced as to be final :

1. By the look at the source of the pics and the right hand drive, the clicks are definitely Indian.
2. Hence, the Name BALENO is pretty confirmed.
3. 3 variants minimum. (Duh!)
4. Body coloured handles provided in some trims including in those with no alloys.
5. Looks like Maruti has heard us. The alloys look better than those what S-cross has. ( Personal Opinion)
6. Rear wiper confirmed.
7. Rear Camera confirmed.
8. Fog lamps confirmed.( Duh !! )
9. Colours will be : Silver, Blue, Orange, Granite Grey(Blackish?), White. Most of the colours seem similar to what's being offered in S-Cross.

That is one ugly looking hatch, just when I tought maruti designs are maturing with the advent of Ciaz and SCross here comes this monstrocity. In my humble opinion this can never match upto cars like the Volkswagen Polo or the Elite I20 be it in the looks or the much favoured diesel engine department. Hope Maruti keeps the pricing sensible keeping in mind the tough competitors.

re: Next-gen Suzuki Baleno (YRA) unveiled. EDIT: Now launched at Rs. 4.99 lakhs

The cars with Chrome door handles get a very cheap design alloy wheel (?) which looks like low grade plastic caps!! The reason why I think its alloy wheel is because of the chrome door handle which can only be attributed to the top most variant.

Other than that, the loading bay looks quite narrow too. The bulk of the rear bumper has caused it.

Edit: The (probable) top variant also gets fog lamps, rear wiper & a rear spoiler while the variant with steel wheels (without cap) gets body colored door handle but no fog lamp. Rear spoiler looks absent too. I feel there may not be a 'L' variant at all.

I kinda like the side profile though - a very sleek / low slung profile.

I don't like the headlight design of the swift which has been carried over to this baleno. Very boring and ugly. Doesn't gel with the overall looks.
Suzuki should have come up with a better front design and headlights, especially for an all new car!!

re: Next-gen Suzuki Baleno (YRA) unveiled. EDIT: Now launched at Rs. 4.99 lakhs

Is this car going to replace the Swift?

The small front grille and a huge front bumper kind of makes the car bulbous (similar to the huge bumpers on the Nissan Sunny). With great looking cars like the i20 and the Jazz in the market, thus design looks outdated.

The front is not only boring but I also think its 5 years too late and does not match the other features of the car IMHO.

re: Next-gen Suzuki Baleno (YRA) unveiled. EDIT: Now launched at Rs. 4.99 lakhs

Patent rendering filings of the new Baleno hatchback show that (most possibly) the Asia-specific (or probably the India-specific) version won't have some features when it is launched here by Maruti-Suzuki.

The all-new Suzuki Baleno will have it's world premiere at the Frankfurt Motor Show later this month.

Quote:
These patent filings show a slightly different version of the new Baleno, leading us to believe that this could be the Indian version, or at best, an Asian version. The differences from the European version lie in the front fascia, specifically the grille, which gets a couple of horizontal slats (possible finished in chrome) instead of a mesh job, apart from the omission of the chrome lower lip. The air-dam is also flanked by a couple of vertical strips that could host the daytime running lamps.

The headlamp clusters in the vehicle these filings show are also slightly different, featuring conventional, halogen illumination, as compared to the projector illumination of the new Baleno. The L-shaped LED signature is also given a miss. The India-spec Baleno will also get subtly modified front and rear bumpers to keep the overall vehicle length below 4 meters.

Bringing you the very First New Baleno - The Premium hatchback from Maruti Suzuki, rolled out from the Manesar plant. Ready for a festive launch ?

The Indian version is expected to have the twin slant grill. Expect this car to be feature rich and loaded in the top variant.

It doesn't look that bad in this picture. True, the HLA is not as stunning as the international version. But the design looks fresh.

This one definitely need those projector headlights. Else, those headlights look straight out of the Swift. Glad to see all black interiors. And this is one big car. And the boot lip looks so high up like the current Swift, will make loading a bit difficult.

MSIL! Surprise us and get some of those unpacked 1.6 MJD into this one.

The above pictures of Baleno, if instead of in this thread had been posted in the other thread of the new upcoming Swift, wouldn't have been very much out of place.

If the new Baleno looks so similar to the Swift, I don't know how MSIL will design the all new Swift.

+1.

The only redeeming factor about the headlamps were the projectors, and without it - the design screams "Swift". Not good for the upmarket segment it targets.

More pics from the assembly line. Panel and dials similar to S Cross.

Note the Red Baleno - you can gauge the side profile of it.
