re: Next-gen Suzuki Baleno (YRA) unveiled. EDIT: Now launched at Rs. 4.99 lakhs

I am now extremely confused. I will be in the market for a car soon, maybe early 2016 and the way I see it, I have 3 main contenders:

If I go for a diesel vehicle, then the main contenders are: 1) Ford Figo Aspire 2) TUV300 (mind vs heart battle)

But if go for a petrol vehicle, then the Baleno will probably be better than the I20 or the Jazz.

I have to decide if the monthly running of this car I am going to buy justifies a Petrol or a Diesel mil (second car for family). We already have a Dzire Diesel.

Why are the Baleno and i20 not considerations for diesel? The 1.4 CRDi in the Hyundai is superb, and if you are happy with the engine in your Dzire, the Baleno comes with the same heart.

I've seen the Jazz, and while it is spacious, I'd pick the new i20 over that any day. I really want to see this Baleno in person to compare it to the i20.

Thank you so much for sharing this @volkman10,
Infact I am about to decide between these two colours :-)
I haven't seen the Ray Blue version yet and unfortunately the Granite grey is little too dark for my kind of usage.

Does anyone know what "Ray Blue" colour would be like when compared to cars already in the market? (Is it like one of those Ritz greenish blue?)

Also from the same source for those who wanted different kind of alloys, somebody has PS'ed to make your job of deciding easier ! I should admit now that stock alloys have a more mature look, and for the flamboyant in you the Diamond cut alloys look better.

re: Next-gen Suzuki Baleno (YRA) unveiled. EDIT: Now launched at Rs. 4.99 lakhs

Is this the official thread for Baleno or is there any other thread? Just want to make sure that the rising discussions happen on a single thread, for the benefit of all.

By the way, it is the same for me too. The more I'm seeing the car, the more I'm falling in love with it. Especially, the Android Auto and Apple Car play coupled with highest fuel economy is making me incline towards this car.

A test drive with at least 3 passengers will give a better idea about the actual performance

Hey kadanaJ, thanks for your comment!

For the Diesel, I am positive that I do not want another Fiat 1.3 75 BHP engine. So the Baleno is out of the question. It is a decent powertrain (no complaints), but the 1.5 TDCI on Aspire is just super brilliant. I loved my TD.

I did not quite enjoy my TD of the Elite i20 1.4 CRDI. It was underwhelming; cannot say why. I just did not feel the wow factor in the car. also The Jazz Diesel is also out for NVH reasons.

So the battle is between heart (Aspire; engine power and nimble steering) and Mind (TUV300; Point to point mover; sturdy; rugged and can be used for occasional long distance journeys seating 5 comfortably; 7 in city use)

For the Petrol, baleno leads the way in my opinion (TD pending).

I know that my usage will be good (15K a year), so it will probably be a Diesel; but again; it will boil down to how much I want to spend on the second car.

Thanks!

Ritz's Racing green colour was too much greenish.

I believe "Ray Blue" is a deeper and more darker shade of blue, with a tinge of green. Something similar to the VW Polo here plus a bit of greenish hue. Picture posted above by Volkman10 is Urban blue, I guess.

Shashi
Thanks Shashi!
Yes the one posted by volkman10 is Premium Urban Blue which might be the same shade of blue in which i20, Swift(torq blue?) OR Eon is available looks like, but a real world view might be definitely needed.

What I had in mind though was this for Ray Blue

And a more real world photo is as shown in the first stunning photo by ACI
Still I am not able to kind of judge what kind of colour this would be
May be this is a mix of this Ritz green and your Polo Blue hehe!

Uban Blue is the same as seen in the S Cross.

Ray Blue is a new color for Maruti and I understand, Baleno looks fantastic in that color.

But the color I liked is White as it looks very elegant defining the style of the car.

White looks very elegant, specially in that Alpha trim with all the projector and DRLs!!

Ray blue appears properly premium, and is more like the Deep sea blue shade used by BMW in their cars, or the Audi's Estoril Blue.

re: Next-gen Suzuki Baleno (YRA) unveiled. EDIT: Now launched at Rs. 4.99 lakhs

I just spoke to SA regarding CVT, my main question to him was that when will the touchscreen system and projector lights with DRL be available as accessory. The other features I can live without but would love to have here two added upto delta. He obviously said no clue, but hinted since it has come for S Cross in 2 months, that can be the time line.

40k for the S-cross headlights, so I guess we can safely assume 35k for these. I guess touch screen system will be another 30-35k.

While the initial images of S-cross was seen with the blue a lot, in real world it didn't look as nice as the Premium Silver Or even that matter the way Brown and White did.

So far I like the following colours in Baleno
  • Premium Silver
  • White
  • Ray Blue (as seen in the ACI image )
Other 'stunning' colours would have been considered, if I were at least 10 years younger!

I realize that this comes with Apple Car Play but can Android Auto be sideloaded onto the HU later?
