Testing to begin soon, expect an Auto Expo reveal and a launch post that.
Just another correction, I've been told that this particular car was on its way to Frankfurt Auto Show and the snaps are from that time. It was already under testing in India and was being transported.

Next Gen SWIFT gets ready for its unveil, spied in India. Dealers are (unofficially ) taking bookings for the New Swift.

Finally, some nice acceptable Alloy designs from Maruti. The Dzire, S Cross and now the Swift.

The new Swift speculated to be spied at a TVC shoot in Lonavala.

That spotting was at Lahore, Pakistan around 2 and half weeks back, not Lonavala.

Here is a short video of New Swift from PakWheels.com. Car has a Boosterjet engine. However language displayed in MID looks like Japanese.

Here are the speculated launches from Maruti in 2018,

Sales momentum is likely to sustain in 2018, led by the all new Swift which will be showcased at the Auto Expo of 2018, followed by the face-lifted Wagon R and Ertiga later in the year.

Re: Next-generation Swift / Dzire / Ertiga in FY 2018

So the question I have on the New Generation Swift is if it will exceed the Baleno in price, refinement, interior quality and aspirational value or will Suzuki be able to maintain the present hierarchy.

Already a lot of the Nexa sold Baleno customers claim that the service experience is nothing special and is same as basic Suzuki. I believe the next generation Baleno (or at least a significant facelift) too should be due soon.

Maruti Suzuki Swift will be in a segment lower than Baleno.

Re: Next-generation Swift / Dzire / Ertiga in FY 2018

What could possibly happen, is they'll gradually move the Baleno into i20/Jazz price range, which will give them elbow room to price the new Swift slightly over the outgoing model while keeping it below Baleno.

That's because they can import Japanese cars easily, and you can find a lot of imports there. AFAIK, officially they are still on Gen1 Swift.

I have seen reviews of Japanese Stingray and Turbo Alto RS on Pakwheels.

Re: Next-generation Swift / Dzire / Ertiga in FY 2018

Here's the brochure from Suzuki's UAE website. The design looks similar and probably this is the 1.2 petrol engine that we already have here.
They have a new promo saying that the Swift "uplifts" you; so probably it's going to be more lighter than the outgoing one

Somehow bolt holes not being symmetric with the rest of the design offend me. Esp. at the OE level. (But then wherever I look, I get offended!)

Which would be quite normal.

But keeping the pricing aside if the vehicle itself is better than the Baleno how would it be managed in a segment lower? Over time the customers would realize that the New Swift is as good as if not better than the Baleno. If they artificially keep the difference then they may face competition heat. There isn't that much of a margin in terms of what the vehicle essentials are vs the Baleno and I am here not talking in terms of variant crossing segments but the entire vehicle.

Re: Next-generation Swift / Dzire / Ertiga in FY 2018

Only thing I am worried as a current gen swift owner is built quality and safety, I find so many Baleno owners, at M.A.S.S complaining about poor built quality, and how the part just broke of like thin fibre piece!

Maruti should have solid products like the S-cross and Breeza, I would surely pay a premium of few thousand in advance, instead of visiting bodyshop often for dent removal and other issues

If brands like ford had put in more effort into models like Figo and Figo Aspire, I would have surely moved away from Maruti! Sadly bling interiors and mileage seem to dominate the customer's wish list.
