Octy to get a mild facelift - am not sure if it wouldbe enough

Cheaper Laura on the way - Elegance model - chopping the sunroof, 4 airbags and some other gimos - makes sense but why bother with an octy L&K

Thats nice to see...
Any price cut on the Octy?

expected launch of thse products by march 2007! can someone wake up these guys?

this is a great move. More people will be able to afford lauras. But since laura is in short supply due to high demand, is skoda planning to make more lauras to offset the projected incease in demand?
They also have the deal with the alleged issue of defective lauras. rl:

Civic makes every other car maker feel the pinch. But minor facelifts wont help. I believe the Civic is as big and powerful as the Laura for a cheaper price. Anyone? No one expected that the Civic will sell 2400 in the first month. Now time to react.

Have to compare specs. I was a big Skoda fan but they are turning out to be too lazy and too greedy in the indian market.

Have to agree on that

Well...I hope they can stop production of the Octavia Combi based on the old Octavia platform and engines and introduce an Octavia Combi for 2007 with 4X4 on the 'New Octavia' (nah me friends, you won't catch me saying 'L****') platform with 'pump dishum' engines !!

So, Skoda is planning to phase out Octy? After this price reduction in Laura, it will reach close to Octy. Now in this scenario if given chance who will buy Octy when you can buy Laura in similar price range.

It means that they are going to slowly phase out the 'old octy', but then.....they could also go the Toyota way and derive inspiration and affinity towards the taxi crowd.

A proper and outright Accord beater now in the horizon! A Laura at Accord's price wud be jus great! and even after the gizmo cuts, am sure it will still be more equipped than the Accord!

Skoda needs to act NOW.....March 2007 is gonna get too late.

Infact laura at 16.5 is only around 2 lacs dearer to a similarly speced Octavia , How can some one call it absurdly expensive . I had heard many say the same about it and I took time and convinced them and believe me most of them changed their opinion about it wonder why Skoda never put it that way . Yes, If it had done that Oct's sale could have been affected to some extent .

New Accord is just around the corner. While engine/gbox/other mech. may not be changed much, body and gizmos are sure to abound. That will throw another spanner in skoda strategy. Octy will go toyota way and cater to taxi crowd? With Laura competing with both civic and accord? Maybe stripped down corolla may attract optra/NHC market?

It will be interesting to see how the market actually shapes up and which models succeed.

Nice, nice, nice. Just what the doc ordered (or what the Civic forced everyone to do). A Laura without all the unnecessary bells and whistles will probably see a 2 lac price cut (the same difference between Octavia L&K and Elegance)?

Also....how much longer are they going to flog the Octavia?
