saw a couple of the new v3 pass me while I was waiting at the PMT stand at the Khadki station. Initial impressions were like, wow.... but somehow the headlamps don't go that well with the overall design of the v3.... Personal opinion. Others might like it....No offences meant. Eagerly waiting to TD it...

indica sapphire v3
Indica Vista

Two probable names for the new indica.
Lets see if they retain either of these or go in for a newer name altogether.
On a second note AFAIK Sapphire was the name of a scooter/ scooterette from Bajaj stable which I presume was a failure as I haven't seen many of them on roads.

Probably Indica Vista V3. A WHOIS search shows that all the following sites are registered by Tata Motors (bit unsure about the indicavista ones):

1. indicav3.com
2. indicav3.in
3. indicavista.in
4. indicavista.com

Indicasapphire TLDs are still available.

What is the deal with Tata's new found obsession with nomenclature pertaining to the computers and gadgets?

First the Tata Nano and now the Tata Indica Vista? What's next - Tata Safari Leopard 3G?

I am sure M$ and Apple lawyers will be enthusiastically drafting cease and desist letters.

Italian Site know the name Sapphire 6 months back

How come an Italian Forum know the Name Sapphire 6 months back? There is a mention of "Sapphire VVT". One need to use the translation service to read it.

Testing?

Safari spy pic was from somewhere over Europe, right? This being TATAs try at export market could have been tested in Europe too.

sapphire or safire is the name of the 1.2L VVT petrol engine from FIAT right?? Me thinks even the Italian is talking about the 1.2L engine. Probably petrol variant will have sapphire badging similar to XETA, DDIS, DICOR etc.

I guess the correct name should be SAFIRE which is probably some kind of name like XETA , but one which is probably based on the existing FIRE series of engines of FIAT.
