Is it just me or those wheels look too undersized for that car?

You bet! Seems to have taken inspiration from a cocktail of other hatchbacks. The door itself has the Getz' crease & strip.

I love the way it looks though. The V3 is a large hatch, yet Tata have managed to give it a nice rounded compact look. My only gripe is with the rear lights....christmas tree arrangements have gone out of fashion a long time ago. I wish they had incorporated a contemporary euro-hatch taillight design.

I had high hopes with the Indica Facelift but very disappointed by the initial designing, looks very ugly from behind, More like a blend of Fusion.WHy can't they give some sleek designing like a Getz or a Swift?

The petrol will be mostly 1.4 petrol with more than 100 horses.
It could be from the TwinCam 16Volve Indigo XL version engine.

Why 1.5 NA? atleast it should be Intercooled Turbo if not Dicor. I think they are playing the price game. It should be Rs.75K lesser than the QJD (How it is) model.

Give them a break yaar - thats a test mule with no labels, no chrome or any other trim on it whatsoever, obviously abused and thrown around. That doesnt even look like a pre-prod batch.

okay, am I the ONLY person here who loves these rear taillights. Not sexiest, but lovely visibility.

I liked the Indica's 2006 tail light cluster. The semi clear horizontal patchwork stuff is just NOT my cup of tea.

looks are overall good. the functionality has given imporatance over looks. on seeing the car you get impression that it is a highway cruiser in disguise of a city hatch. outside it may look like matiz but inside it is a honda city.
the design has been made keeing in mind that many variants can be created easily. we can get a spark, a indigo, a indigo cs, marina or even a innova easily from the indica vista with minimal effort.
i can see tata attacking many cars with this one
with 1.2 xeta engine : wagon r, spark santro etc.
with 1.2 vvt : i10 and splash
with 1.5 na : indica turbo/dicor
with 1.4 petrol 100 bhp : swift fabia palio1.6
with 1.3 mjd : swift palio getz
with boot : dezire, logan, accent etc.

You can judge the look, by looking at the pictures, Going by the dimensions, its a pretty big hatch and I am sure looks good. I just hope and pray that they have improved the quality. Thats the only problem with Tata right now and a big one at that.

Yes the read looks slightly like the Fusion

Overall I like the new car from pictures. The Diesel engine is already known so whats remaining is to see how good is the QC & that how Tata Prices this car

The Indica has finally matured...with the honeycomb grill, large headlamps and nice contours on the side makes the car looks better than any Indica ever.

@ Anirban da: This is just a pre production proto. I think those gaps shall be fixed in the production models.

Nice pics, Tushky!

Any idea whether the 1.5 litre N.A engine is IDI or a DI one?

I dont think that functionality has been given more importance than looks. Lood at those headlamps. I dont know how well they are, but then they are definitely given those looks importance.
Wagon R is a perfect example of Functionality over Form.

IMO, the Indica will be somewhat heavier than both the above mentioned cars, so 1.2 VVT cant take a fight with i10 1.2 or Splash.

Mostly will be 1.5 with crdi and this will be in a class of its own till i20 comes out. Getz is not much of a competetion.

1.4 Petrol can take fight with Swift, but not Palio 1.6

Depends upon the weight of Indica if its the same unit as Swift with same state of tune.

Yes they will be in some danger.

I think some irregularities were also spotted on car displayed at Auto Expo. And nobody would like to have improperly finished displayed in front of huge number of people.

I little birdie tells me that the current 1.4 TCIC engine may also be available. If thats so, where does the 1.4 DICOR motor go ? Or will that make it 3 diesels ?
Same source also told me that it would also be priced EXTREMELY competitively priced. Also, airbags may not make an appearance on the Indian version just yet.
