Thanks for the regular updates RavenAvi.

Any confirmation on the petrol variant yet? Which engine is it gonna be? Same 1.2L that we see TIAGO in a higher state of tune as that would qualify it for the sub-4m tax benefits? Or a bigger engine(like Ecosport has the 1.5L)?

This I guess is the last confirmed new launch from TATA for sometime to come. Isn't it? Wishing them all the best.

Turbocharged 1.2L mill, producing 108PS power. Exact torque figure would be disclosed at launch, but it's near the 155Nm mark.

A few variant updates to the Hexa, Tigor and Tiago aside, their next big launch will be the Q501 next year.

But yes, no confirmed dates yet.

This bit is interesting to me. Can you please share if you have any more details like addition of XZA variant to the lineup or making XTA at par with XT (adding missing bits like ESP).

Being a Tata, Nexon will be heavy and looking at the outputs suggested by RavenAvi tell they wont be class leading nor very low. Guess it will be the right balance between Power and fuel efficiency. But will have to see how it really pulls in reality.

Hope we see all these updates and the Q501 in production form at Auto Expo 2018.

Overall, Nexon looks quite appealing. Spy images give the feeling that the vehicle will have good road presence too. What doesn't work for me are the headlights. Looks are subjective, however, if TML can get rid of the indicator (as marked in red) that look like raised eye-brows, move it above the fog lamp area (as marked i yellow); Nexon will look sharper. Although it may not accentuate the curves of Nexon, as some would say. Just my point of view.

While I don't mind the curves, here's what you think would look better.

Looking at the earlier photos posted doubt which variant will have one. One of the following photo shows normal radio antenna. But now we cannot confirm which is this variant as it has front alloy wheel and rear steal wheel.

From the photo you posted top end variants might have Shark-Fin antenna.

I've just noticed another image from Motoroids which was posted here. One of the image clearly shows the placement & contours of the hand-brake (from left side view). This now looks better and should be convenient for the driver to use without any issue. Let's wait and see in a couple of weeks when we get to see the car in flesh hopefully.

The thinking of this layout looks to be to keep the level accessible to the driver & easy to pull, while still making space for the two storage spots that we see in the pics. If the lever had been placed in the centre, then space would have been wasted trying to provide sufficient gap for the fingers to go around the lever when lifting it. And the two storage cubby-holes would not be there. Keeping the lever on the right side would again mean larger gap to the left of the lever to make space for the fingers to go around the lever.

Btw, looks like no cup holders in the centre console !

They are there, all right. Covered by a flat lid.

re: The Tata Nexon, now launched at Rs. 5.85 lakhs

Would the rear seats be fully foldable in the Nexon? If it could it's a huge plus cause it already has a big boot space and with a flat folding rear seat there would be a massive increase in the cargo space.

Nice ! But if these dont have a sealed bottom end, then it's going to be a dirt magnet.

From whatever information we've, I guess the rear seats are completely foldable. The same setup is available even in Tiago. With the seat base removed, the folded seats will be almost flat. However it won't be as flat and perfect as that of Brezza which has a completely flat rear seat bed when folded down.
