A few things I noticed:
1. LOTS of part sharing with its cheaper siblings like the tiago, bolt, zest and tigor.
For example- the steering wheel, tachometer are all carried over.
2. Definitely looks smaller than the ecosport, what with a quarter glass or d pillar glass designers?
3. Petrol seems like a dead on arrival- poor refinement of the tiago 3 cylinder on which it is based and Tata's clear deficiency w.r.t turbo petrols, the bolt has poor city fuel efficiency.
3. All the new Tata cars generate a lot of buzz but that doesn't convert into sales.Just for reference, the indica used to sell much more in terms of numbers in its primes than the tiago does today.
4. The upcoming ecosport facelift, expected to be a major one and the brezza with a petrol engine will definitely make matters worse.
5. Horrendous resale of Tata products in the private space- my best friend is having a hard time selling his 2015 bolt xt revotron with just 32k Kms on the clock for anything even around 3.5 Lacs.Buying price was 6.8 lakhs

re: The Tata Nexon, now launched at Rs. 5.85 lakhs

Definitely drool worthy pictures!

Tata seem to have paid a lot of attention to detail. Especially like the illuminated glovebox which is not present even in my 26 Lakh Crysta! Seats seem to be sumptuous too and I couldn't spot a poorly built component in the pictures.

Just waiting to see how it drives and whether it will come with 6 Airbags. Exchanging my i20 Active for sure

How do the Nexon numbers compare against Brezza/Baleno/Jazz? Ought they not be almost the same?
I have to say that the car exteriors look too busy; in particular the white stripe running all around the car seems too much bling. Reserve judgement till I see one in the flesh, I suppose.
@ the next comment - if 4 people can sit in comfort, I prefer a lower car for more stability. High GC and low height are a great combination to have - with the important rider about passenger comfort.

Bingo, srh!

You have given me the answer.

The height difference between Bolt and Nexon? 45mm. Out of which ground clearance accounts for 35mm of the difference. Rest is only 10mm, or 1 cm - easily due to the roof rails.

Wheelbase is same, the actual car body height is the same as Bolt. No wonder it looks small, like a jacked up Bolt. Videos taken are all pointed downwards like looking at a small car, unlike others like Brezza and Ecosport which stand higher.

Wonder why TATA kept the height same as Bolt, when the body panels where not shared!

For those who were asking - Android Auto is present.

Roof rails sit flush, and are not separate. Makes the car look lower in stance.

A clear look at the "Tiger" design motif on the underside of the glove box lid.

And this is the complete dashboard. Complete because we also have an umbrella stashed inside it's section on the passenger door too!

The engine bay. Seems like a very snug fit.

It's not at all unexpected, and I'm happy if it works for you, but man, this is a gaudily designed car! It's simply too loud. If they'd exercised just a little restraint, we might have had a much more premium looking vehicle on our hands here.

See Tata Nexon's sliding shutter lid for the centre console in action. Open the below link.

Looks like no variant will feature 6 Airbags.
From Cardekho on Twitter:
It's the XZ+ variant.Gets DRLs, light guides at the rear, rear parking camera, ORVMs with indicators & alloy wheels (16-inch) #Nexon

A small correction here, the Bolt comes in 2 wheel sizes, 14 and 15 inch. The version with 14 inch wheels has a GC of 165 mm and a height of 1550 mm. The Bolt with 15 inch wheels has a GC of 177 mm (Yes thats correct!!) and has a height of 1562 as mentioned. So going by a very rough estimate (As GC cannot be used as an accurate measure of bodyshell height) actual height of the Bolt shell is (1562-177) vs Nexon (1607-200), approx 22 mm. Including roof rails.Quite some number crunching . But yes the body shell looks to be the same, after they are based on the same platform ?

So much for an Audi-ish dash, European-esque central console dividing the passenger and driver areas and 'premium' design/features, the lack of cruise control even on the top variant is extremely disturbing.
Here goes another car out of the 'fully loaded' list for me.

Funnily enough, that is one of my top doubts about the Nexon. I know the car is wider than the Ecosport and probably even the Brezza, atleast it looks wider, but in my experience, these wide and tall (above the seat base bolster) central tunnels, do look great and very european but they work only on large executive saloons like the 5-series-7 series, A6-A8 (havent sat in the new A4), new line of mercedes saloons. In cars like the 1 series or A class, which are both really wide hatchbacks I find my legs to be a little constricted in the passenger seat even with the seat pushed all the way back. I find that I am not able to sit in a relaxed manner unless I have my legs straight and parallel to eachother which feels kind of restricting in the passenger seat. I can't let my knees rest on the sides. Obviously this is not an issue in the driver seat unless it is a manual. Anyway, eagerly waiting to test drive this car and find out for myself, but as of now width for me is a huge question mark. Or perhaps these cars are not designed for 6 footers with longer legs.

re: The Tata Nexon, now launched at Rs. 5.85 lakhs

Well at last Tata Motors seem to have a vehicle that meets most expectations. Smart looking exterior, a fabulous interior and powerful engines, the Nexon can be the game changer that Tata desperately needs. If the engines prove to be frugal as well the Nexon should be a resounding success. I hope Tata is working on their sales and marketing team to aggressively pursue each inquiry and not be their usual lethargic selves.

Not correct. The difference in wheel and tyre size will account for the higher GC. So Nexon is definitely taller.

Edit: Shot from the hip, without thinking. Sorry Crazy Driver; You are right. I stand corrected.
