Comparing family design of Hyundai of Merc is not the same as comparing Tata family looks. Indica, Vista, Bolt etc are not looked upon as any kind of premium or reliable products unlike Merc or Hyundai. Looks of any new Tata product when compared with its predecessors tend to get associated with something downmarket, cheap and unreliable.

As far as Nexon in concerned, agree 100% with you. Just check the images of Bolt and Nexon side by side. Couldn't find any similarity except the Tata logo.

It is actually good that Tata has skipped on the dedicated navigation system. With phone based navigation via the Android auto already offered it would have been rather superfluous anyway. Would have only escalated the sticker price not just because of the required hardware but also in the form of licensing fees to the developer. How often does anybody travel without smartphone and need the navigation at the same time?

Google maps already has offline navigation in it. Also it comes with the new feature of live maps that update traffic conditions on the go when connected to the internet, which is not possible with the built-in car navigation systems that I know of.

Looks stunning with the greenery in the backdrop, especially the red one.

What a funny species we humans are!
Give us democracy, Freedom of Expression,Internet and we are ready to bash Engineers who have spent years of research to bring out an amazing product irrespective of which brand it is. Not sure how many here have even basic knowledge to create even a iota of what these people have done.

Well to people who are genuinely surprised on the bashing NEXON is getting, Let me just say this. You look around anywhere, there are people who are ready to find mistakes in everything and those people are there in T-BHP forum as well. You can't avoid them in society how hard you try.

I believe TATA is doing everything in their might and a little more to convince these guys on their positive turn and the journey is absolutely on the right track. Kudos to you TATA

Very Curious about the statement above.
Are you serious about this and can you back it up with some concrete proof?
maybe you can post in appropriate forum and we can discuss there rather than here.

Earlier it was the Jeep Compass thread doing at 2-3 new pages/day during the Compass revelation and first drive. Things watered down as the launch got postponed.

This thread is a complete contrast. Launch, first drive got preponed and all of a sudden we see 2-3 new pages added every few hours.

re: The Tata Nexon, now launched at Rs. 5.85 lakhs

Finally the cat is out of the bag and no more spy shots !

- The car or should I call it cross-over, as it does not have a SUV kind of stance looks good and clearly shows that Tata's have moved out of utilitarian design and build, this is certainly going to shake the market and the manufacturers operating in this segment

- As indicated earlier, Tata's are expecting about 3500 copies per month as the final stabilized number after the initial hype subsides for which the vendors are geared up, Auto box will make its way a little later, may be 2018

- It is spacious and can hold 5 passengers comfortably for intercity runs

- The machine is feature rich, and any blames (barring 6 airbags which are available in EcoSport) are just for the sake of reading pleasure or just demeaning a brand.

*Ecosport facelift is coming almost by the time Nexon hits showrooms. Confirmed feature set includes Cruise Control, Projector headlamps etc.
You may need to change the petrol mill figures as the ES will come with a brand new 1.5 L Dragon, as we discussed few days back.

Nobody's asking the most important question.

Can we have it in black?

Sent you a PM. As you said, that's an entirely different tangent that we would be heading into.

Ha ha. I have already said this once before on one of the Tata threads. Having owned the Indica V2 (the original eggshell), the Indigo Marina (the elongated eggshell) and now the Vista (the midlife eggshell), I would move on to the Nexon (the new eggshell) without batting an eyelid, if the need arose.

Naysayers will always say no. Fence-sitters will always sit on the fence. Cribbers will always crib. Fanboys (if you want to call me one) will always remain fanboys. Guess what, the earth will still rotate on its axis and revolve around the sun! Tata will still continue to make VFM cars, because that's what they do best.

No offense to anyone.

I don't think so. It might come in the dark grey shade of Zest or Tiago.

Edit:
See lot of welcome videos to all reviewers on Twitter, don't seem to find one for Team BHP. Had anyone spotted one? Is Team BHP present at the media drive?

Yes GreenBerg at Kulamavu. I could make that out from the pictures.

There are ample areas to do a bit of patchy and uneven roads around Kulamavu, added with truck loads of twists and turns.

re: The Tata Nexon, now launched at Rs. 5.85 lakhs

Some members have commented that the Nexon reminds them of the Bolt. I have sometimes looked at the Creta from a slight distance and mistaken it for the i20 Active (I am not suggesting they look similar in size).

So, I put together a rudimentary comparison of the dimensions (Creta over the i20 vs Nexon over the Bolt), FWIW.

P.S. I have used the i20 Elite's figures here. The i20 Active is taller / wider and has higher GC.

Nah! Its not happening. Tata hasn't had a black in a long while, right from Indigo days IIRC. So colours seen so far:

- Red
- Blue
- Brown (from Geneva edition promo)
- Silver (from Geneva edition promo)
- White (non camo test mule)

Many manufacturers have dropped black off their color palette. Even those offering, we see very less of black shade on road. An example on the latter, I haven't spotted a single Panther Black XUV in all these years

I remember there was a discussion thread on the black color. Not able to find it now.
