Could have made it a tad taller Tata, at least like the Ford EcoSport. :(
Don't be disheartened, Ajay.

If you've noticed, most hatchbacks /sedans from Tata, i.e. the Bolt / Zest are taller than your average hatch / sedan and a tad ungainly IMO. With that in mind, I'd say the Nexon is well proportioned. It may not be as tall as a Duster / EcoSport, but it will certainly be beefier than the cross-variants of hatchbacks in the market.

True!

I would suggest please have a look at Creta and Ritz side by side, you will be surprised! We usually have these 2 cars side by side in our office parking lot and boy the illusion of Creta being a tall SUV is diminished. No doubt it is beefier with considerable width as compared to Ritz, but you get the hint right.

While some may be disheartened, other's like me will rejoice. The Nexon's wide and squat stance will mean more stability and less likeliness to rollover.

Looks the dimensions are on par with the segment.

To be frank, it's not the dimensions of the Nexon that Tata must be worried about. It's the rather easily recognisable resemblance to the Vista & Bolt, at least of these test mules.

To overcome this resemblance to a good extent, as has already been mentioned by others (especially CrAzY dRiVeR), Tata must make the multi-tone paint job, large wheels & tyres, beefy roof rails etc. standard across the range. Only then will the first impression be created that the Nexon is a very different vehicle from the Vista & Bolt. Tata should not commit the mistake of reserving the above-mentioned bits for the higher variants alone.

Tata Nexon spied On test again!

Quote:
Tata is working on a brand new diesel engine for the new Nexon and it will be a 1500cc unit. Four-cylinder motor will be turbocharged and inter-cooled and should deliver around 100 PS of power. The power ratings are pretty much standard in the segment as every competitor in the category has the same.

Four-cylinder petrol engine will also make it to the engine bay and it will be a 1.2 l unit producing around 90 PS of power. Petrol unit could be a next generation Revotron motor which is expected to be all aluminium and turbocharged. Expect class leading numbers for diesel which should be around 25 km/l and petrol delivering 16-17 km/l.

It is all in the mind. Keep looking at two models long enough & they will start looking similar in due course.

Having said that, yes - Vista & Zest are quite similar... But Tiago has a different styling. Newer models will not resemble older ones.

Poor Tata. Vehicles are supposed to have some family design traits in common. The same is held against them. The problem is people anticipate problems (perceived) to be also carried over with design :(

Production-ready Nexon mule spotted on test by a Motoroids reader.

Note the absence of the makeshift headlamp and taillight units (seen till now on all Nexon test mules), replaced by (possible) production-spec headlamps and similar taillight sections.

Also note the alloy design in the front wheel of this particular test mule.

The production-ready Nexon test mule now reveals it's front, exposing it's production-spec head lamps (with projectors) and front grille, bumpers & foglamps.

Quote:
Heavily camouflaged, the same was seen parked alongside the Hyundai Creta and the Ford EcoSport, indicating that Tata is developing this particular vehicle while closely observing the capabilities of the existing competition.

Too true! Family resemblances are an occupational hazard in this field - one feels that if the resemblance could be restricted to the grill & face, it would be acceptable & perhaps even approved. But TM have stuck to a basic design signature that is more bland & borders on the dull.

With bespoke brands - Diamler-Benz, BMW & Audi, eg - one tends get away with it, simply on the basis of the perceived inverted snobbery value! Though even these these brands have been more adventurous of late.

TM should perhaps accept that Tata Motors products (as distinct from their JLR acquisition) have not yet attained the iconic status that would permit such aspirational flourishes!

M&M, on the other hand, have taken to the other extreme, as witness their recent KUV100 (as also the TUV at the time of its launch), both of which garnered more derisive laughter than was perhaps merited!
