re: The Tata Nexon, now launched at Rs. 5.85 lakhs

err... I thought we were discussing about AWD and terrain response here and not safety features. If we consider that, then the whole equation changes.

Does this also dove-tail into closing plans for the Nano ?

Your post shows that your sights are already set. Guess you should just go ahead and get the ES. It's a Good vehicle.

I am waiting for the facelift to be announced as you can never buy an older generation vehicle for your wife .

re: The Tata Nexon, now launched at Rs. 5.85 lakhs

I too spotted Nexon last Sunday near Pune. Earlier I was not sure if this car would have good road presence because of it's height. But after seeing it live I'm convinced it sure does. The one I spotted was a top end variant (alloy wheels/touch screen). Now I've more or less made my mind that this would be my next car.

Some info on the AVN unit to be offered in the Nexon, courtesy my birdies:

Quote:
The Nexon will have a 7-inch Harman touchscreen ICE with a Voice Assistant feature and a Mobile App which will monitor vehicle health. Tata has already proof-tested 13,000 units of this "next-gen" infotainment system by Harman, which is ready to be fitted in production models of the Nexon.

Harman is also coming up with a smart speaker with the Cortana assistant.

The nexon is looking more and more interesting. It'll be my prime contender when I upgrade my esteem next year.
Though I'm not sure about the Microsoft integration...

re: The Tata Nexon, now launched at Rs. 5.85 lakhs

Spotted the Nexon completely camouflaged and testing in Chennai on the Spur Tank Road. Appeared to be a lower variant as it had no alloys. Registration was a TN-37, so probably Jayam Automotive is testing it.

The vehicle size is not commanding, neither is it shameful. It is properly sized for a compact SUV. It seems to be a bit lower than the Ecosport, but I guess it's the tail gate that makes it appear so!

Wish they would launch it with Amazon Alexa - win win for Amazon & Tata! India launch of Alexa is something i've been waiting for ever since i saw the Alexa at work in the US. Tata could use it to schedule service, check vehicle health, check for the meaning of error codes that pop-up and order groceries / food while you are stuck in traffic on your way back from work. So many use cases i can already think of.

I stay quite close to TATA manufacturing plant here in Pune and on and off keep seeing Nexon on roads.

I own an Ecosport Titanium and a visual comparison does make me feel Nexon is a wee-bit lower in height as compared to Ecosport. Have had a couple of instances where the Nexon test mule was standing right next to me on Akurdi signal and it does feel short.

The final specs might reveal the truth though!

Team,

Here are the first un-camouflaged, undisguised pics of the production-ready Nexon, caught on a testing run.

Awesome pics RavenAvi. The car somehow looks not so good from these angles. Will have to wait to see it in flesh, especially the twin color versions.

Even white color is looking great. Ceramic strip is little grayish to create a line . Any news on AMT being launched from start?

The car looks very practical for it's segment. Raised stance, sporty attitude. However rear is rather.....odd. Also those taillamps look after market :o
