Thanks for your reply Sameer.I understand the point you are making in the rear bench seating 3 in comfortable position. I mostly use my car for 4 people. Travelling with 5 is a rare occurrence in the city. I was talking more from legroom point of view for rear passengers and it would definitely be better in Nexon. I am 6'1" and prefer to keep my seat pushed all the way back while in driver's seat. And importantly I got tired of driving a WagonR for the last 10.5 years and am looking for a better powered vehicle.

When I drove my father's Zest, I didn't need to push the seat all the way back as it won't be possible to reach the pedals if I did. I am 6'1" and a 5'11" guy could sit behind me in the Zest with 1'+ legroom to spare.
Not only this, the car is W-I-D-E and even 4 lean guys can sit in the back bench.
When I drive my Fiesta, only 2 are supposed to sit in the back as its quite cramped there. I understand your feeling mate.
As Nexon is based on the same platform, I am sure its gonna surpass your needs and expectations for sure.
On the power front, 1.5 litre 110hp sounds good on paper and should suffice your needs, but lets wait till first impressions start coming in, and even better, till you get a TD.

Tata's Nexon's interiors spied, shows the driving modes in its pre-production guise.

Quote:
The Nexon's latest spyshots show the new driving modes knob as against the buttons used in the Bolt and Zest. This basically to toggle between the driving modes - city, eco and sport. The other features in the cabin will include a push start and stop button, keyless entry, a 6.5-inch touchscreen infotainment system with reverse parking camera, navigation, aux, bluetooth and USB connectivity.

Can see a red button between the gear lever and the knob. What is that for?

It is an emergency stop switch to shut off the engine if any critical electronic component malfunctions. Usually it is mandatory for all test vehicles.

I have a feeling Tata Motors is about to become relevant again in terms of business. TBHP Car of the year award, upcoming mini SUV, orders from Indian Army.

Spy shots are looking good, hopefully Tata will see to it that overall package like Ecosport is good and not let us down with poor interiors and build quality.

Seeing these latest spy shots is evoking mixed emotions now. When I had previously seen Nexon in that bright blue, grey and white scheme, it appeared like a chic and youthful car with quite an aspirational value. Seeing this one with some parts in black and trying to visualize rest of it in black / grey, it feels like something straight out of Mad Max sets!! This totally changes the character of car! Eagerly looking forward to this!

Tata Motors have scripted a successful turnaround after the launch of the Zest - its launch was the point where their fortunes took a U-turn.

For the month of November 2016, Tata is the No. 3 car manufacturer in India! Yes, they did get a shock boost from the demonetisation process (that affected some other manufacturers to a much greater extent).

However, looking at the new products in their pipeline, I think they will be able to hold on to their podium position even after demonetisation's effects have worn off.

re: The Tata Nexon, now launched at Rs. 5.85 lakhs

This car was trapped in the traffic of Hinjewadi and since I was on bike I followed it getting a good view of the dimensions.

Its much bigger than the Ecosport and wider than the Brezza. At the same time, it is not as big as the Renault Duster. Ground clearance is also a tad higher. The wheels are also big and fit the wheel well nicely. Headlamps are bulbous like say, the Honda Brio. Overall, the car is imposing and will stand out in crowd because of its dimensions.

Tatas are coming up with something new, dimensions wise this car is not exactly comparable with Ecosport or Vitara Brezza or Renault Duster which we think it might compete with. Same is the case with Kite 5, it cannot be compared with the Dzire or Amaze or any Compact Sedan

It would be too early to guess the prices at this stage.

I am impressed by the ground clearance. Looks like among the <4m siblings, Nexon will have the best ground clearance. Two pictures above, with Tiago & then with Xylo gives a good idea about its overall size too. Looks fresh and imposing. All the best TATA.
