India and UK to join hands in automotive R&D and testing

India and the United Kingdom have decided to collaborate in the field of automotive research and development (R&D) and testing.

The concerned departments and agencies under the Government of India and UK are countries are expected to sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to share their expertise in automotive research and development (R&D), testing and administration of testing system. During the Indian Prime Minister's recent trip to the UK, his British counterpart he expressed their wish to promote innovation led growth in the automotive sector in India.

It may be noted that the Tata group owns luxury carmaker Jaguar Land Rover among other British companies.

Excellent move! Considering that a lot of automotive development work happens in the UK, it also being the cradle of motorsports development work, I think we Indians stand to gain a lot through this in terms of the technical know-how.

It's not clear how they intend to implement this partnership though - I mean how exactly would the sharing of expertise and technical knowledge work. (Trying to understand whether this development translates to any better job/higher education opportunities for concerned aspirants).
