re: Suzuki Vitara spotted testing in India

I am not so sure that these pictures are taken in India.

Reasons:
1. Boat - No chance of finding one in Gurgaon or any nearby MSIL facility - all 1000+ km from the sea
2. The cardboard boxes have Suzuki badging, not Maruti Suzuki or MGP/MGA which is what you see in India
3. The double cab pickup in the back has Suzuki badging on the door. Unlikely that they would badge a rival vehicle with their own sticker.
4. The pic with the front of the orange coloured Vitara has a forklift in the background, half hidden by a boat which appears to be nothing like anything I've seen in India.

Thoughts?

This is Suzuki Vitara SUV which is a full sized SUV, not a Compact Vitara Breeza SUV as both body length seems to be more than 4-metre & front bumper is different than those spotted in prototype/test mule as visible in previous spy shots.

re: Suzuki Vitara spotted testing in India

Dubai Motor show 2015 just concluded this month and it could be that the photos are from the Al Rostamani Suzuki dealer in the UAE.

The double cab pick up is Toyota Hilux.

I will find out by tomorrow if the photos are from their warehouse in Dubai.

Also arent the workers in one of the pics of indian origin while in another pic the worker sitting in the glass door room looks oriental.

Or maybe the boat is there for a photoshoot or Maruti plans to sell them to Ola for Chennai

An indian can carry off this style both in and outside India.

re: Suzuki Vitara spotted testing in India

If it's here, it had to come in via the CBU route. Zauba.com shows 1 Vitara (Grand or not??) imported in August 2015.

That same piece left the factory premises in September (link (September 2015 : Indian Car Sales Figures & Analysis)).

That is the current Grand Vitara with the J24B petrol engine.
The upcoming Vitara has 1.6L petrol and diesel engines in Europe.

The picture is of the new Vitara, but the Zauba.com record refers to Grand Vitara. Something strange here. Cut-n-paste error?

That clears all airs.

These pictures are not from India.

re: Suzuki Vitara spotted testing in India

The OP mentions that these pictures were received directly from an MSIL employee, so naturally it was assumed that they were clicked inside MSIL premises.

But, judging from the background in the pictures, it's unclear. Either these were taken in the Middle-East (which would explain the "Suzuki"-only badging, boats, the Hilux double-cab, etc.), or maybe they were brought in via the CKD route to some secret Maruti-Suzuki installation. Do CKD units show on Zauba as well?

But if it's the former, I apologise for jumping the gun in sheer excitement when I saw them for the first time.

Either way, I wouldn't be surprised if the 2016 Vitara shows up at the 2016 Auto Expo in it's LHD avatar, since Maruti-Suzuki has patented the brand name already.

re: Suzuki Vitara spotted testing in India

The pickup is a Toyota Hilux 2.7vvt-i.They are used by Al Rostamani (dealer in UAE) for transporting 'Suzuki' Outboard/Marine engines and Motor bikes.
Hence the boat in the background, the cartons with Suzuki and the suzuki badged twin cab.
The 3rd snap, and on the Ramp on the Left is a Suzuki APV panel Van.
Suzuki was not participating at the Dubai Autoshow.
Hope the above helps.

2016 Suzuki Vitara in India? They think yes -

http://www.oncars.in/car-news/above-...s-success/8725

This article settles the doubt that there are actually two Vitaras in the offing in India in the near future -

1) the sub 4 m (Vitara Brezza)
2) the international Vitara (above 4 m)

re: Suzuki Vitara spotted testing in India

Autocar India has some info on the New Vitara and logically seems correct.

The Vitara, to be placed above the S-Cross, will share its 118bhp 1.6-litre diesel engine and six-speed manual gearbox, but will likely get the advantage of Suzuki’s excellent AllGrip AWD system.

It will rival Skoda's Yeti and Honda's CR-V and is estimated to be priced at ~ Rs 18-22 lakh and launching in 2017.

Either the folks at autocar are going crazy or the folks at Maruti are getting a little ahead of themselves. The Vitara is supposed to be cheaper than the S-Cross not more expensive I mean just one look at those interiors and you know that it is not meant o compete with the CR-V. The upcoming BR-V maybe but certainly not the CR-V. It could be priced at par or a little more than the S-Cross if they spec it with all the goodies and AWD but they still can't fool anyone here. At the end of the day this is just a Vitara not a Grand Vitara

Here are the UK prices of the Vitara DDiS variant . Pricing works out to be in the 18 - 22 lakh range.
