I'd cover everything in detail in my write up, but mainly it just boils down to that inner feeling of joy that Creta didn't er.. create. For me. It was purely emotional. I saw the Tucson in the flesh in Beirut about 6 months back and I was blown away. The 180 BHP diesel sweetened it a lot too.

Service schedule is your regular 10k intervals after the first service at 1000 kms. The company provides the first 4 services free.

It's came to around 28 on road for me. Diesel. Yup, I too feel it is about 2L more expensive than I would've liked. 25 on road would've been sweet.

I generally hate black on cars and have no qualms expressing the same, but I have to say.. the Tucson and black go very well together, the curves and styling merge perfectly into the colour giving an additional premium look, lighter colours on the Tucson in comparison do not look as good.

Its not a small price but I guess its worth it, somethings you simply get only in a Hyundai - their interior design + quality which was already good to begin with a decade ago has simply moved beyond any competition in sight. I feel the Creta is too squarish while the Santa Fe is too broad and big, the Tucson is perfect inbetween not to mention it's the latest of the 3 and the best built as well. Good buy, specially in these times.. Hyundai should be grateful. ;-)

If I am not wrong Hyundai covers the first 30,000kms / 3 years service including consumables. Oil used for Tucson is Shell helix (confirmed). Looking at international sites for part costs, I am expecting them to be at par here as well.

Oil change, air filter is for every 10,000kms and fuel filter is for every 20,000 kms. This is what the manual says.

That's surprising coming from the dark.knight

I would've loved the Caribbean blue with black interiors that they offer just about everywhere else but we're in sync here, black looks gorgeous. Pictures really can't capture the car's presence in three dimensions. Earlier when people used to say how black is tough to maintain and it shows dirt and dust more than any other colour I used to brush it aside, but now I totally see what they're talking about. Haha.

I would also love to try a matt finish wrap a ways down the road. Maybe in that blue or something similar.

Somehow I doubt that. The dealership told me Hyundai didn't include my floor mats. They've had to order a set separately.

I met the service manager at the dealership (PDI checklist) and he told me it uses the same oil as every other Hyundai Diesel here. Is it the same oil, Shell Helix? Also while parting he said "sir ab to miltey rahenge" (we'll keep on meeting each other now) and I was like no no..

How did the GLS come to 28L on road? I see it in the range of 30-31 in most states?

My point exactly, here in karnataka it is 32.5 lacs for the GLS model and I presume he may have bought the car from a union territory or from a state where road tax is not that exorbitant.

Re: The 2016 Hyundai Tucson. EDIT: Launched

Adding myself to the list of those concerned with its pricing, I mean, wouldn't an entry level Fortuner/Endeveour make more sense than Tucson for all its offerings and features (or the lack thereof)

PS : Tucson looks pretty good from the outside and I am a loyal Hyundai customer for many years now.

By your profile, I thought you are from Mumbai and hence was confused about the price. Southern states are looting in the name of road tax. It is not available below 30L

The 2016 Hyundai Tucson. EDIT: Launched

^Yeah, my hometown is in Haryana.

Some more, at the farm. Nice contrast between the modern Tucson and the place.

Looks kinda small here, doesn't it? While taking a drive last night we came up next to a parked white Endeavour. Man is that thing massive. Next to that the Tucson appeared real puny.

Okay, I swear this will be the last "pictures" post for a while. Haha. This will give a fair idea of the Tucson next to the Creta. I also have pictures of white Tucson next to a white Creta though that's in the night time, so if anyone wants me to post those, please tell me.

What makes this Tuscon worth it's asking price?
Only the brand name ?
It doesn't seem like a real SUV and neither a luxurious offering.
Don't know what Hyundai guys are thinking while deciding the price?

Are they taking advantage of lack of any other option (SUV) in that price bracket?
Brilliant marketing team at Hyundai , they are getting spot on prices which will fetch huge margins as well as won't hamper product's desiredness.

Re: The 2016 Hyundai Tucson. EDIT: Launched

I test drove Tucson AT today and came back unimpressed. While the ride is comfortable and the engine+gearbox isn't too bad, it neither feels nor looks like a 30 lakh car.

Thanks for the pictures !

Is it just me or does the Creta have a more impressive rear than Tucson.

PS : Tucson has a great smart front, but the sides and the rear are a big low point especially when I would have paid almost twice as much as Creta (which is already common on Indian roads).

Put Tucson on the same price point as high end XUV and we could have a game on. But like the others have said, I dont see the marginal utility in this.
