BHPian ![]() | ![]() Can someone with subject knowledge on this topic, confirm if this is true: "The difference between BS-IV and BS-VI fuel is the significant reduction of Sulphur, which will come down to 10ppm in BS-VI fuel as compared to 50 ppm in BS-IV fuel. Interestingly, Sulphur also contributes to the smooth running of diesel cars. Now if you use BS-VI fuel with low content of Sulphur in BS-IV cars, they will face some glitch in the longer run." As outlined in this particular discussion, I trust that the lubricity additives which will be added to BS 6 diesel in the place of Sulfur will do its job. I trusted this info enough to buy a BS 4 diesel car in 2018.

| ![]() Autocar has compiled a list of cars which will go out of production post March 2020. Some of these are brilliant machines, available for a killer price. Quote:

| ![]() I hear a new problem for BS6 diesel which will be used soon in our country. Bacteria growth inside fuel tank due to low sulphur content! Noticed it in Scotty's channel. Any idea if this will be a serious issue in a hot country like India? It appears that high sulphur helped prevent bacterial growth inside fuel tanks of diesel cars. With reduction in sulphur, there seems to be issue in controlling slime. |

Today I saw advts from Maruti about their cars being BS-VI already. In Delhi (and NCR) BS6 fuel is already available. I was worried about the BS4 - BS6 changeover but then I saw a scan of an RC with BS4/6 already. So maybe things are Ok.

Distinguished - BHPian ![]() ![]() | ![]() This is in continuation about Maruti cars with BS6 engines being sold right now. I saw an advertisement in newspaper today and it did show 8 cars with BS6 engine. But Ignis was missing from the list. Does it mean that Ignis will not be getting the BS6 engine and will be discontinued from April 2020? Last edited by BoneCollector : 19th October 2019 at 08:33. |
