| ![]() Let me chip in with this - Indian Oil Marketing Companies have been buying BS6 grade diesel from the international market for a while now. I don't know what they were doing with it though - stockpiling reserves before the BS6 norms take effect, or sell it in retail outlets ahead of the BS6 norms? |

Senior - BHPian | ![]() Good to know that IOC is thinking ahead, but do we know about their other refineries, I know 31st March is the cut-off but do we know by when will we start getting BS6 fuel across India, is it Mid-Feb or March. There has to be a logistical plan which all oil companies will follow to be compliant by April. |

Distinguished - BHPian ![]() ![]() | ![]() Mahindra will likely not be ready with BSVI vehicles( full range) by April 2020. Mahindra & Mahindra expects a hit on production of some of its BS-VI vehicles due to disruption of components supply from China, where the coronavirus outbreak has forced several plants into temporary shutdown. BHPian ![]() | ![]() https://auto.ndtv.com/news/fada-asks...effect-2180723 Following the Supreme court's rejection (to extend the timeline), FADA has made an official request to OEMs to stop despatch of BS4 vehicles to dealerships. This would create further pressure across OEMs to accelerate transition to BS6. On the other side, there is impediment in ramp up of BS6 owing to corona virus break out in China. So this is not easy now. https://www.autocarindia.com/car-new...n-india-416098 In sum, there will be stress at all levels, like dealers need to liquidate the entire BS4 stock by Mar 2020 end and register them. OEMs have to switch to BS6 on war footing for all their brands and ramp up. And all this happening when the market is slow and component production is getting worse. Good news is here. Customers can expect better discounts on BS4 stocks once the fire sale start. May be we can have a separate thread to know the deals given by dealers across cities ![]() Expecting members to share their experience at showrooms ![]() |

| ![]() Multiple colleagues have asked me today if work was too heavy and why I seem lost in thought. Little do they know that I've been feeling sad that - strictly as an automotive enthusiast - BS6 seems to be queering the pitch. Amid all the talk of problems with DPF enrichments and NOx traps and SCRs and DEF containers and Low Sulfur BS6 diesel, I have a sinking feeling that diesel cars aren't going to be sustainable for us at all. So why do I have to be sad about it? It's not as if I'm about to buy a car now. Here's an analogy - my manager shared this insight with me (I work in a desi IT company); whenever employees were nominated for visas to work abroad, no one ever made themselves available to fly overseas immediately (people cite kids education, family commitments and a list of other reasons). But ever since visas and work permits have become hard to obtain, those same people have been moaning about the lack of overseas opportunities. I'm on that same boat but in the automotive realm. Irrespective of whether i'm actively shopping for a car or not, the seeming lack of opportunities to upgrade to a big diesel car is weighing down on me heavily. Oh well, life has so many other pressures and exciting stuff. This is almost like a first world problem. I'd better snap out of it! |

| ![]() Basically get all your payments done and paperwork handed over to RTO by 20th March to ensure you get the vehicle registered before 31st March. The computer system for registration will be updated from 1st April so no BS4 vehicle, even if all payments are done, can be registered. |

| ![]() As the official roll out of BS6 fuel around the corner by 1st Apr 2020, and Oil companies claim the quality on par with European standard, does it make sense to use premium fuel after 1st Apr 2020? I’m using Shell V power Diesel for the past 1 ½ years, and I’m quite happy with its crispy engine note, peppy characteristics and less or nil black smoke under hard acceleration. It was like a magic the very first time I used V power Diesel. Does BS6 fuel bring in similar qualities as premium fuel? also I read Sulphur content in diesel acts as a lubricant, so less Sulphur content in BS6 diesel have any adverse implication on BS4 engines? |
