re: The Mahindra XUV300, aka Ssangyong Tivoli. Edit: Launched @ 7.9 lakhs

Mahindra to equip the diesel powered XUV300 with the Magnetti-Marelli sourced AMT gearbox. The Mahindra XUV300 AMT will be launched shortly after the manual versions and would cost a slight premium over their manual counterparts.

Carwale has done interior space comparison of XUV300 with competition. Have compiled in a table for benefit of all. Gives a fair idea of the space inside all sub-4 m CUVs.

The Mahindra XUV300, aka Ssangyong Tivoli. Edit: Launched @ 7.9 lakhs-xuv300-space.jpg

Could not make out much out of boot space dimensions.

PS: Rear legroom (min) of XUV300 seems incorrect.

There is a demo vehicle in Manyata from today. I went and saw in flesh during lunch time. I liked everything about the vehicle, except for those ‘white’ color interiors! Boot size also seems to be okay from me. Vehicle looked well build and there was a thud sound from doors and as well as boot. When enquired about the price, I was told that it will be around 14l (ex-showroom) for the top end. Overall, mightily impressed with the car.

The boot space has been mentioned in terms of the dimensions of the boot (Length X Width X Height). I feel one of the dimensions of the XUV300 mentioned is wrong. If you calculate the boot space volume of the other cars, it seems to be in the 350-370 litre range, which is as per their actual specifications. But 590 X 1050 X 810 mm gives a volume of around 500 litres!

I think some of the data is not correct. Ecosport which is considered to have a narrow cabin has the shoulder width of 1400 mm while a wider XUV300 has a shoulder width of 1250mm! Also the difference in shoulder width should be within 3-4 cms and not 25 centimeters.

Had a look at the XUV300 (in Manyata Mall). This is a very well rounded package with the smallish boot perhaps being the only fly in the ointment. The black upholstery in the W8 looks classy and the interiors definitely are a notch above the competition.

Note the regular Alloy on the W8 version. This one had Apollo shoes on.

A couple of pics with my colleague who is 6'2". Rear space is after he had set the Driver's seat to his driving position. Enough space in the rear for him, but under thigh support is lacking for his build. But there may not be many instances of having to ferry two 6 footers back to back, so I will let that pass.

Think Mahindra have screwed up with the boot space. It really is a 'strange' thing. I really liked the XUV300 till i had a look at the boot and tried reasoning how i can use it. Bummer!

Yes the red limiter for a turbo-d petrol would be lower than a NA petrol but it should revv freely till the redline. That's the petrol character.
Of course, in turbo-d petrols the mid range is more enjoyable and in NA, it's the top end that is more enjoyable. But that doesn't mean that turbo petrols are meant only/primarily for everyday commute. In fact, they come to their own on open roads!
Please read XUV500's petrol review in tbhp. Then you might understand what I am trying to say. A petrol engine (even if turbo-d) must feel like a petrol, not diesel!

I was wondering, now that Mahindra showrooms have started selling Ford cars, what happens now with the launch of XUV300 which is in the same segment as EcoSport? Will both these vehicles be showcased in the same Mahindra showroom? It's definitely good for customers as they compare both these cars easily with back to back test drives. But will the sales advisors give priority to XUV300 and downplay the EcoSport? Will potential AT customers be lured towards EcoSport instead of XUV300?

re: The Mahindra XUV300, aka Ssangyong Tivoli. Edit: Launched @ 7.9 lakhs

Saw the Xuv300 at Terminal 3 at Delhi today. Overall good fit and finish and space inside the car. But the boot is ridiculously small! It is comparable to the boot space of an I10 or KUV100. Wonder what Mahindra did with the extra 300mm length over the Kuv100. If there is one thing which can undo the success of this otherwise great car, it is its bootspace! I hope Mahindra is able to launch the Tivoli XLV based version soon!

Gosh that video is so well made. What a fully loaded car. This should sell well for the urban dwellers.

I'm looking for an upgrade on my ~6 year old GT TSI and was looking at XUV 300 as a possible choice. I was ready to wait for the AT version but such a limited boot isn't what I expected. Really disappointed on this front with Mahindra.
