The Maruti Baleno RS: 1.0L turbo-petrol engine

In the European market the Baleno 1.0 is seen as a practical choice made by head whereas the swift sport is considered as a choice made by heart. If only Maruti could get the swift with 1.0.
I got to know that the Baleno RS would have lowered GC for better handling and one can book that car even now at Nexa by paying 10 grands. The Nexa guys have said that one can book the RS in the name of normal Baleno as of now which will be seen as the booking amount for the RS when it gets launched in Q4. My friend booked it like this in Delhi

Not sure if it is the angle of the pic, but the 2nd pic suggests a significant amount of body roll in what seems to be a slow right turn. No changes in the suspension from the regular Baleno?

Sorry, guys.
I have always said that Baleno RS won't come with automatic transmission since last 1 year . Few media reports were simply claiming it. Exact one year back in December 2015, I had spotted Baleno RS and interacted with Maruti engineers testing the car and the info was shared with and published on Team BHP. We at Team BHP knew more than what Maruti showed at Auto expo.

Last year at Kochi, they were testing Baleno along with Polo GT TSI. I had asked why are you benchmarking it against an automatic. Answer was Baleno RS has direct injection system like GT TSI and also there won't be automatic transmission on offer.

NEXA RM's from Mangalore have gone to Bangalore for the training. I will try to get some more information from them.

Cheers!!

I am actually liking the fact that the Baleno RS is launching with a manual transmission!
For me a performance variant should always come with a manual transmission, atleast as an option.
Eagerly waiting for a test drive now to find out how it compares to the Abarth Punto.

re: The Maruti Baleno RS: 1.0L turbo-petrol engine. EDIT: Launched at Rs. 8.69 lakh

Baleno RS will be launched in Feb 2017 in MT and only be available in the Alpha variant.

Cosmetically, the car will get a different set of bumpers and new alloy wheels.

Expect Maruti Suzuki to price the Baleno RS around the Rs 8 lakh mark / around Rs 80k-1 lakh more than the top-end Baleno 1.2-litre petrol.

With the test mules running across the country, the expectation has increased and the news is everywhere about this car. Maruti Suzuki has given the Baleno RS a right platform for launch.

Did anyone book the RS in Bangalore with any of the Nexa showrooms?

Today afternoon, I will be checking the Baleno Petrol, will also be enquiring about the RS version.

I will be considering the RS if they price it well like the regular version.

On a lighter note, Finally Maruti will launch a model with "RS" sticker with some some real performance benefit(beyond those body graphics)

Guess they have learnt this after a long time following Ciaz RS

With the reviews from outside India, this might be the genuine RS variant from Maruti Suzuki. We will know after the launch and TBHP review.

Brilliant product offering by Maruti. Finally a competitor to the Polo TSI that too with a manual transmission. I can't wait for them to start offering this engine on their other products.

I also hope they bring in their DCT to really give VAG a run for its money.

Yea, this is pretty much what an SA at a dealership told me as well that a Jan End, Feb early launch is on the cards. Waiting to see if this will be my next car.

re: The Maruti Baleno RS: 1.0L turbo-petrol engine. EDIT: Launched at Rs. 8.69 lakh

I recently saw the final production model which was used for TV commercial shoot. The production model looks exactly similar to the concept showcased. Same metallic grey colour front and rear spoiler as well as side skirts. The engine noise is very much prominent inside the cabin. Now this is because the company wants to feel the sportiness of the car inside the cabin or its lack of refinement?
