re: The Maruti Baleno RS: 1.0L turbo-petrol engine. EDIT: Launched at Rs. 8.69 lakh

Looks like an exciting prospect!! The new alloys look much better than the one on the current Baleno!! It would be interesting to see a comparison of Baleno RS Vs Polo GTI

Awesome scoop volkman10 and thank you for sharing the info bro

So it has taken over 10 years and more than a million iterations by Maruti to finally realise that the tag "RS" is not about some stupid stickers or swanky graphics.

This RS from Maruti, seems to be the real deal.

7. Expected to be a lakh more than its equivalent 1.2L variant.
So Volkswagen again looses to Maruti here. No more harping about the fact that their top of the Line Petrol Polo (GT TSI) costs just about the same as the top of the line Diesel Polo (GT TDI).

Not sure if its a good thing to cheer on or a thing to ponder over though !!

Ha ha Akmar! I spotted the same car at Dahisar Checknaka today. It looks absolutely stunning in black!

Is it just me or does the chrome strip on baleno's hatch lid look absolutely fugly and godawfully out of place?

The first course of action after driving out of maruti's showroom should be to wrap/black out that abomination.

Other than that, seems like great news! Hope they launch the RS AT at the outset.

I'm sure you are not alone. Even the chrome lining on the window-sill and chrome handles look so wrong. While the CF-wrap will look awesome on a black car, can't be sure about it on lighter colors.

The window-sill and door handle chrome looks good in other colors like Red and Ray blue, but looks quite odd in Black.
The rear hatch chrome looks very odd in all colors. A subtle chrome lining on the lower hatch lip, instead, will make the rear look much better

The power figures of the RS is just great. If the engine output is what it is rumored to be it's going to be one fast car. I just put together the numbers for my current petrol favorite - the Honda City.

The figures look just great. I just hope Maruti prices it on the lower end of the 10L bracket.

Drive on,
Shibu.

I am pretty sure I was following a Baleno RS in Gurgaon near Maruti Factory. The new black color as seen in many clicks was being perhaps driven by Maruti engineers. It had temporary registration plates and few dents on the doors. Must be surely a test drive vehicle. Had a hard time chasing it as I feel it had pretty much 100+ horses under the hood.

Spotted the black Baleno on palm beach road in Navi Mumbai today. The dude was ripping the car, and how! Couldn't take photos as I was alone in the car but it really looked good in black.

i see the torque develops at a highish 2K rpm. i doubt whether it will be quicker on reality than the TSI. (comparing petrol to petrol)

South Chennai folks: If you want to take a closer look there is one parked in the Nanganallur area (kind of right next to BM hospital). I see the vehicle during my morning run (before 8 AM). And its parked in the same spot, road side parking. May be the test-driver lives there, or the vehicle hasn't been moved in a while (vehicle has the red HR plate).

Can you post some pictures since the car is standing? Also of the interiors?

Another question: can you peep and see if it's manual or automatic?

Spotted this black baleno (Red No. Plates) opposite Dhaula Kuan metro station yesterday evening. The driver was gunning it all the way. Sorry for the picture quality. Wasn't able to click more pics as I was driving.

I usually don't carry my phone while out on a run. But I guess I can drive down there to take a few pics. I sure will try on Sunday.
