Kindly check the images I have posted above, one of the images show 195/55R16 also. The 185 Ecopias seem imported rubber.

re: The Maruti Baleno RS: 1.0L turbo-petrol engine. EDIT: Launched at Rs. 8.69 lakh

I think the on-road difference between the boosterjet model and the equivalent 1.2 model would be less than 1 lakh (that too OTR).

Eg: if the 1.2 Alpha is 8.5ish OTR Mumbai, the Alpha 1.0 turbo would be less than 9.5 OTR. If the 1.0 MT comes only in RS form with the skirts and any other add-ons; thats the only way to spike the price higher. Otherwise for the same standard equipment, Baleno cannot be priced higher than this.

While the 1.0 while will cost Maruti import duty; it will continue to enjoy the same excise benefits. The turbo and import duties will cost Maruti additional < 50k at max. Still Maruti benefits from another 30-40k margin which is very healthy. Pricing it any higher will bring it into very exclusive category and Maruti believes in volumes for all models. They would want the 1.0 to sell well and not just boost branding or brag technology rights.

Hope they bring the boosterjet in lower variants as well as fix all quality issues especially the ride quality.

AE reviews the Baleno boosterjet a second time. Rates it very high!

The downsized 1.0-litre three-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine is a real highlight, and has reminded me that while the Baleno might look a bit bland in our car’s £430 Ray Blue metallic paint, you should never judge a book by its cover.

the Suzuki’s 170Nm of torque means you don’t have to change gear quite as often as in some rivals. It makes for more relaxed progress, as the engine can easily pull taller gears in slow-moving city traffic without any nasty vibrations, offering good performance at low revs.

It isn’t perfect but it is a little hidden gem in the supermini sector.

Quote:
Looks-wise, it’s far from daring but it has a pleasing enough appearance.Much more importantly, it’s affordable, cheap to run, practical and fun to drive.
Quote:
The three cylinder engine is certainly the way to go. Average economy is a claimed 62.7mpg although, as is so often the case, in real world driving it falls far short of this figure. I got around 50mpg over a week of mixed driving.
Quote:
Where it really shines, other than in town, is on back roads. Here it shows an agility and lightness of touch that’s bettered only by Ford’s superbly dynamic Fiesta.
Quote:
Releasing the Baleno was a bold move by Suzuki. There are so many great superminis out there that it seemed an impossible market to crack. Yet Suzuki has done it.

Baleno RS again spied in Chennai.

The 1.0L boosterjet engine that is speculated to be coming in Suzuki's future models will debut in India with the Baleno RS.

I believe we have been spotting the same Baleno Boosterjet across various cities. Is this the actual production variant?

The test mule is having 'Suzuki' badge on the boot and airbags on the front seats which confirms that it's the Euro spec variant.

Exactly what I think every time a scoop on the Baleno is posted here. There is one set of test mules running across the country and its spinning so much of news and speculations all over the web. Not a single picture of the engine bay or any indications that its the 1L boosterjet. Then, there is another thread running on this same test mule being a 1.2L SHVS. The more it runs around from city to city, the more the speculation. It is indeed the Euro spec variant that is on test here with the complete package all the way to the tyres.

Not claiming that there is no Baleno RS planned, but there is no evidence of it apart from these cars running around.

I was keen to know about the automatic version of Baleno RS and visited NEXA gurgaon today.
The NEXA guy told me that sales training for Baleno has already started and automatic variant wont be launched.

Thanks for the Bad News. I too was hoping that the RS would come in CVT, but . I stayed back from the current version as the top trim doesn't come in CVT. I guess me and Baleno don't have any future together.

Confirmed from my sources - no CVT option for the Baleno RS.

The sporty version of the Baleno will be launched with a 5-speed manual gearbox only.

Sorry, guys.
