Although it looks like the currrent CRV still from the front, the rear design is given a complete make over! From the side it looks a mix of their Stream crossover or MPV and bit of Volvo XC90. Nissan Murano crossover influence?

Powertrain is almost unchanged except that we have a diesel option! India might that too. Approximate launch will be in mid 2007.

"To duck under the hood, there will be a 2000cc petrol and 2200cc diesel on offer. The latter is the acclaimed 140 bhp i-CTDi. And since the car is twelve per cent more aerodynamic, economy should be better.
The petrol engine is all-new, based on the 1800cc SOHC iVTEC in the (Indian) Civic. Six-speed manual and five-speed automatics will be on offer. The petrol is good for 150 bhp and 19 kgm."

It looks more edgier than its primary competitor Toyota RAV4. A diesel based offering will definitely enthuse pure SUV fans. Still a price point upwards of 16 lakh rupees is way above the US$ equivalent pricing of around 25K.
We probably need to wait till we look @ Toyota's Fortuner/RAV4 in India for a better choice for the Indian prospect. I don't beleive Hyundai's offerings in this class merit the price they are charging.

The difference between Toyotas and Honda is the hardwork and emphasize they put in for every model upgrade. If you have even seen the old Civic and new Civic, the design, build quality, features in-built shows clearly that Honda is best Jap car available. Toyota's like Maruti in India, although Maruti sells the volume does not mean that they give you good cars. Actually they give value for money cars, not great quality cars.

No wonder, Accord and Civic are the most stolen cars in Western countries.

In Fortuner's case, the Toyota worked on a pickup/truck platform called Hilux Surf. It came out well and they just decided to put a roof in the back and named Fortuner. If you see the closely, it rather looks like a facelifted, shrinked Prado LC. Dangerously taller and a bit scary to manuevuer esp during cornering.

In SE asia the positioning of Fortuner is also a bit confusing. The price is just a little bit more than RAV 4 fully loaded ver. The Fortuner is available only manual in this region.

Iam really surprised why Fortuner is given such big hype.
