I don't think VW will ever provide any of these additional kit as part a retrofit package officially. They can actually easily do it and I am sure there will be takers. But somehow they don't.

My 2013 Vento TSI has around 10-15 features missing if compared against this latest version. I doubt if any other car has had so many changes.

Switching to these LED headlamps is not easy by any stretch of imagination. One will have to change the complete wiring harness for the headlights (not trimming the ends and swapping the connectors), source the top-end 7E0 series BCM for the PQ25 platform, source the headlights (they retail for a lakh per pair not inclusive of customs duties).

Volkswagen could have updated the Vento with these alloys. Since the new Vento will launch next year, what stopped them from updating the alloys this time? There's no point in adding features every 3 months.

Completely agree with you.
But, on the flip side it keeps their products fresher, gets media to talk about them, and fancies more buyers. Imagine last updating the car back in 2015 and not adding a single feature after that - not many people would be interested to buy 2-year old update.
These frequent updates also signal VW's commitment and interest in Indian market - they are striving to stay relevant.

What exactly were they testing after showcasing it almost 10 months back. Though as Gannu with his expertise pointed out that this can not be retrofitted, but it is shameful it took them so long to just come up with a new pair of headlights and reverse camera.

re: 2016 Volkswagen Vento Facelift spotted testing. EDIT: Launched

For all the enthusiasts seeking Apple CarPlay on Polo, Ameo or Vento, here's an easy solution.

Buy RCD 330G Plus from AliExpress - they have a new version with Apple CarPlay.
You could also check the video

This system costs about INR 21,000 + shipping + customs + installation charges.

If you want to save money and don't worry about the buttons, I'll recommend you go for this model - also RCD 330G Plus from the same seller on AliExpress

This system costs about INR 12,000 + shipping + customs + installaion charges.

I hope that helps.

As mentioned by Gannu it can be retrofitted but not meant for the faint hearted. There is lot of work involved

1. Replace BCM with BCM Max (090).
2. Wiring from/to BCM and fuse.
3. RLS sensor and Auto headlight switch.
4. Auto corrector.

This has been discussed in details in several forums and has been successfully completed by several folks however significant amount of time and effort is required.

Regards.

Effort apart, 1 Lac worth of investment upfront is demoralizing. I would rather get a suspension overhaul and a remap for that money then to spend on Lights.

re: 2016 Volkswagen Vento Facelift spotted testing. EDIT: Launched

A good bi-xenon setup is likely to blow these LED headlamps' performance out of the water. The LED headlamps of Audi A6 and the likes, offer performance that is far inferior to bi-xenon's performance.

Bi-xenons are easier to retrofit, cost a small fraction of these LED headlamps, and highly likely to offer better performance. A proper retrofit job also takes care of any potential long term niggles.

In my opinion, it may not be worth getting the Highline Plus trim over the Highline variant.

Having said that, folks at Vagtune has been doing retrofits of these LED headlamps for quite some time now.

re: 2016 Volkswagen Vento Facelift spotted testing. EDIT: Launched

Guys, it is also possible to hotwire the LED headlights just like the OEM bixenon lights. But you will lose out on the headlamp leveling functionality which is useful when the car is loaded. The parking lights will be wired to the DRLs, the low beam to low beam LED and the high beam to high beam LED. It will work but with the proper wiring and BCM in place, the DRL dims when the headlights turn on. Plus, VCDS enables a lot of modifications to be done like controlling the intensity of the DRLs, turning off fog lamps when DRLs are on, X when Y is off, A when B is on etc. Warranty is void as well.

Congratulations Sir!
I just found out both your cars are Volkswagen. The only doubt I have is their reliability and after sales. I asked the same here.
It would be great if you could help me.

Thanks man! Quite honestly, I am yet to drive on a long stretch, where I can experience the throw & road illumination. Have been mostly driving in crazy Mumbai traffic. Here's a picture of the headlight capturing the DRL. The DRLs are very strong and its difficult to capture the details of light-housing from the front, even on an iPhone 7. I shall be posting more images in the next couple of days.
