This is a good news, finally one can expect some traction @ GM outlets in India. Beat was successful in its previous iteration and therefore it is quite likely that it will retain interest among buyers.

The only fly-in-the-ointment is absence of automatic option (if the present information is final and sacrosanct). The market has moved on since the launch of previous avatar of Beat.

A conventional TC or CVT (no AMT) would have helped in re-establishing the "desirability" of this little car.

Being a proud owner of Chevy Beat Diesel LS, 2013 Make, I can vouch no engine trouble whatsoever.. The high speed stability is much more stable than some of the tall boy hatch backs we have.. I freaked driving an old santro after my beat..

However, This attempt just wont cut it.. People will go for the Grand i10 if they are willing to pay a premium for the better engine.. Worst case people looking for a 'different' looking car can go for the datsun redi-go or the more proven Kwid which looks more mature than the Beat..

I doubt if we will see this version touching atleast the 4 digit mark a few months after its launch leave alone renewing Chevy's fortunes in India..

The face lift looks eerily similar to what Hyundai did with the i20 in 2012.

Wait... GM is still in the country!

But in all honesty, Chevrolet is the fourth worst selling brand in India. GM should sell all of its retail channels to other brands with the option to service their vehicles there, and focus on exports.

This way they can at least channelise more money to their big markets like China without bleeding money.
