Re: Mahindra's new design concept, the XUV Aero

All Mahindra needs to do is, bring this to life, even if it's in a subdued form, rather than play around with the XUV!!

The Komodo concept

Re: Mahindra's new design concept, the XUV Aero

A Sports Activity Coupe...that too a first from an Indian manufacturer !! Way to go, M&M !!

The renders make me feel that the styling has been a bit overcooked, alongwith 'strong inspirations' from the X6. The rear end looks too heavy and may need a bit of toning down. May be the new 1999 cc engines will be the ones powering this beast.

@1100D,
The KOMODO Concept definitely looks much more well proportioned, though almost similar in dimensions. If M&M manage to make it a reality, its sure to become a hit.

Re: Mahindra's new design concept, the XUV Aero

The XUV Aero concept has been unveiled at the Auto Expo.

Pininfarina's first major contribution to the Mahindra group, the 4-door Aero concept might actually go into production if it meets with favourable public response at the Expo, according to Mr. Anand Mahindra, Chairman.

Re: Mahindra's new design concept, the XUV Aero

A 3 door+hatch concept, isn't it?
Interesting!
There is something very off about the concept piece. Just cant place it.
Maybe with proper production lamps and bits, this would look better (typically the other way around )

PS: I think I've got it. Its a bit too much of the XUV with only the back tapered.

To me, the side profile is not too bad. May be only as bad as a BMW X6. From the back though, it looks pretty sad. The droopiness is unmistakably DC Avanti-like.

Re: Mahindra's new design concept, the XUV Aero

Looks very disproportionate and the back is overdone.

If they do launch it i am sure it will be a 5 door not a 3 door.

Its a Quad coupe (featuring bi-parting side doors). The doors open like that on the Mazda RX-8.

Only on the left. No rear door on the right.

Re: Mahindra's new design concept, the XUV Aero

I hope Mahindra is not serious about this concept, it didn't exuberate anything interesting. Now this what Pininfarina's team could best come up with. Komodo concept was something acceptance ready for Indian junta. Mahindra XUV is cool ... Do not overuse it....

For the AERO concept the front is not homogenous to the rear. I rest my case

That looks like XUV went through sugar cane roller juicer!

Hope actual production version looks good.

Re: Mahindra's new design concept, the XUV Aero

Reason why Pininfarina was on sale? Or was it Mahindra's problem with having the XUV body panels not changed much?
Rear is really bad. And the front drops down and rear rises up.

Re: Mahindra's new design concept, the XUV Aero

If I take it part by part, it does look good. But overall sync is definitely below par to me. Its too muscular to be a coupe. May be, tone it down and you have a decent looking car. The bulges project like a sore thumb now.

I hadn't noticed that. Guess that doesn't matter based on the definition for a quad coupé though.

I really like the front end treatment of the Aero. If M&M can get this front end for the XUV and get rid of that mustache at the rear housing the wiper, it will look amazing.

Re: Mahindra's new design concept, the XUV Aero

This is what happens when you are trying to produce something by copying - every panel of this concept or whatever has been inspired by something else ( including Mahindra's own products ), this is downright ugly from any angle you see in my opinion, have seen enough of such cars in China where they copy far better. Why are they even wasting time in copying and all that for something which does not hold potential of double-digit monthly sales at its best. Sorry but most of the guys who want this to be produced will come out with 100 different excuses for not buying if at all it goes for production.

My thoughts exactly. They should be doing well what they have to do (their existing cars) rather than spending resources on this concept car. I liked the interior though, if they can install that in some of their other vehicles, it'll be great. They also need to address their obsession with anything ending with "O". Good luck.
