Maybe [and hopefully] the top end trim will be less than INR 16 Lacs:D. Which means there will be an overlap with the lower end trims of the Compass.

Good move Jeep! Finally Jeep has decided to bring the small and affordable jeeps to the SUV loving nation, rather than its pricey flagship model. I'm sure this smallest and capable offering from Jeep will taste success in India, if priced appropriately like the Compass. It's one vehicle which has its own definitive fan following around the world.

While I absolutely love the Compass, it is a little out of my budget at the moment. The Renegade looks just right in size and will possibly be at least 3-4 lakhs cheaper than the Compass and that sort of makes it a car to consider when I switch from my Rapid in the next 2 years. I hope Jeep ensures that the Renegade has quality levels that are at par with the Compass, in terms of build quality and standard safety kit.

A report in Malayala Manorama says that Renegade may be launched under Fiat banner and not under Jeep Brand, thus keeping the Compass as the entry model for Jeep and ensuring its premium

The report is in Malayalam, however a few points are

- Sources from company indicate that it may be launched under Fiat

- Renegade name itself may be not be there

- Engine options include the same as Compass, but in detuned versions. 1.6L of S-cross fame may be launched at a later date

- No official word from Jeep/FCA

For all you know, this may be the imagination of an idle journalist. But if it's not, then its bad news for Renegade

This appears to be the pre-facelift model. I am wondering why didn't they wait for the facelift.

With the Jeep brand doing good, it will be strange to launch the Renegade as a Fiat.

If the idea is to position the Renegade as a premium Fiat and not an entry level Jeep, it might backfire. It is not going to be that cheap which will dent the Jeep brand's premium-ness.

The dashboard and interior pics shown here scream premium ! The huge touchscreen and the overall finish are all very upmarket. I wonder what will happen to the current in-demand pseudo-SUVs in India once this is launched in its full glory with 4x4 tech, neat interiors and a lip-smacking price, say 12-15 lakhs ex-showroom :D
