Impossible! Well practically not possible! It would just cannibalise all the cars right from Ritz to Scross. I'm expecting it to be upward of 7 to start with. Let's see where we land with expectations.

PS: last time I had such expectations, it was the creta. We all know how that went (fingers crossed).

Re: The Maruti Vitara Brezza @ Auto Expo 2016

Swift LDi = 6.2L
Baleno Sigma D = 6.6L (Swift LDi + 40,000/-)
Brezza LDi= 6.99L (Baleno Sigma D + 40,000/-)
S-Cross 200 Sigma = 8.5L (Baleno Sigma D + 1,90,000/-)

Swift ZDi = 7.7L
Baleno Alpha D = 8.7L (Swift ZDi + 1,00,000/-)
Brezza ZDi+ = 9.7L (Baleno Alpha D + 1,00,000/-)
S-Cross 200 Apha = 11.2L (Baleno Alpha D + 2,50,000/-)

All the above prices are Mumbai Ex showroom. Considering the Swift & Baleno prices, a 5.8L price tag mentioned looks overly optimistic. My take is still a starting price of 6.99L & may go upto 9.7L or even 10.5L as @RavenAvi mentioned.

I think the last two numbers were interchanged - 250 instead of 205, which is the standard size in L & V variants. However, it skipped the quality checks.

Autocar India mentions that L&V variants get 15 inch steel variants which seems wrong. They should have really verified the details.

We have to wait & see. Brezza is taller than S-Cross and has a 20mm higher GC, though seems wider than S-Cross. The first two factors may change the driving dynamics a lot though I pray it's quite close.

Thanks Volkman for sharing the info.
The kerb weight is still lower than it's straight competitor Ecosport TDCI (1290 kg) and is a good 100 kg less, although I was expecting VB to be even lighter in the range of 1000-1100 kg based on the Kerb weight of MSIL's recently released Baleno. But it's good that MS didn't undercut the weight too much. If compared against the pre-face lifted version of Ecosport (2012-2015) which had a lower state of tune with 90bhp, the VB should have slightly better power/weight ratio and it should be peppier. Having said that we all know MS always tune their cars for mileage. So it would be interesting to see how it would perform.

Should be somewhat accurate. As this is the predicted ex-mumbai prices, delhi prices will be 40k cheaper. That means brezza LDi will start at 6.6L at delhi, which will be a very good price point.

Another reason to believe that brezza will be priced closer to baleno is, that maruti has not yet increased baleno production even after 1Lakh bookings. They will be thinking that once brezza is launched, baleno demand may cool down to, say, 10k per month and many bookings will be converted to brezza.

Scross will be affected very badly, for sure.

So, maruti's target would be:
Brezza: 10k
Baleno: 10k
Swift: 15k
Dzire: 17k

It won't be that low for sure. 90 HP engine at that price is not possible. Add to it all the craze for this SUV.

At 9.7 ZDi+ would be a good deal. At 10.5 S-Cross Zeta is better.

C-Platform looks likely. Being Wider should take care of wobbling effect at high speeds.

Its good that the weight is not cut and the SUV is safe. Sheet metal thickness always makes the difference.

Hope the 90 HP has got S-Cross 200 like drivability.

Re: The Maruti Vitara Brezza @ Auto Expo 2016

Considering a kerb wt. of 1185kg,

Power (PS@rpm): Vitara Brezza – 90@4000, EcoSport – 100@3750
Torque (Nm@rpm): Vitara Brezza – 200@1750, EcoSport - 205@1750-3250

Power to Weight Ratio (PS/ton): Vitara Brezza – 76, EcoSport – 80
Torque to Weight Ratio (Nm/ton): Vitara Brezza – 169, EcoSport – 164

Prices are highly speculative, but I would go with Vitara Brezza to have a starting price of 7.0 lakhs with the top end ZDI+ to be~ 9.5 lakhs ex showroom Del.

Re: The Maruti Vitara Brezza @ Auto Expo 2016

Have had 2 sleepless nights.

Just saw an adv of Ecosport in paper, it starts at 7.08L so LDi would start less than that. I feel Brezza would be starting at 6.49L topping up to 8.99L for ZDi+. I was very enthusiastic at time of Creta launch but all went down the drain after prices were revealed. I hope Maruti doesn't do something like that. Waiting with bated breath.

But then again it's the petrol version of ecosport that starts around 7 lakh ex-showroom. If maruthi can pull off a 7 lakh ex-showroom starting price for brezza, ecosport will take a heavy hit for sure!

That's for the petrol model. Diesel starts around 8.1 at delhi.

DDIS200 can do 0-100 in 13.3 sec
exceptional handling
ICAT compliance for offset and side impact compliance.
Now they are taking a break, and presenter doesn't eat sandwiches :-)

If the above were to come true, Maruti had better start preparing a new plant dedicated to producing the Baleno and the Vitara Brezza.

I somehow doubt if the Vitara Brezza ZDi+ will undercut the S-Cross DDiS200 Zeta! Although the Brezza will benefit from lower excise duties, the kit offered is considerably better than the former.

If, however, combined with the above pricing, Brezza offers driving dynamics comparable to the S-Cross, a lot of prospective customers will jump ship.

Looking at things a little differently, I reckon it will take a lot from the Brezza to do what the EcoSport or Duster did to the sales charts, since the prospective customers base also erodes with time. It'd have been a different story had the EcoSport, Duster, TUV300 and Vitara Brezza debuted together!

SVHS would've helped them escape 1% extra cess, which Maruti will pass on to the buyers

Keeping the fingers crossed till 4pm
