15-20% hike at max variant wise. Toyota is planning to sell only 2 variants i.e. V and Q for couple of months as they are not manufacturing the lower variants and want to see the market response from private buyers.

Maybe I am misinformed. But I was told that there will be Zx and Gx variants from Day 1. So which information is correct?

Also T-BHP is my holy grail- the mods in their AutoExpo report were quite pleased with what they saw, felt and experienced.
Its already available in the UAE. I did have a short test drive, but the bigger concern is we get the petrol engines here with the auto box. So my review would be biased to start off with.

Nonetheless, I will put a mini-detailed experience up soon. Unfortunately, couldn't take much pics but Ill see what I can add to the forum.

On a quick note, the ride has improved, but not in a mind blowing way and overall ambience / feel is considerably better. Ill explain more in the detailed post.

Re: Toyota Innova Crysta @ Auto Expo 2016

ALL Innova buyers know why their are buying this vehicle, and what they are getting for their money's worth. As long as Toyota does not tamper with Innova's DNA, and "add" more good stuff to it, it will sell. No doubts about it. Its just the absolute numbers that's of speculative interest.

I would have thought given the diesel ban in New Delhi, they would have launched their petrol variant at the same time. Is that not the case?

Got a call from the dealer, the top end auto variant is approximately 22 lakhs OTR Pune. The price isn't confirmed but it will be around this price.

A friend saw an Innova Crysta near Peenya in Bangalore. Ravindu Toyota showroom is nearby to the location of this picture so they might taking the car from there warehouse to the showroom. This one was a 2.8 Z variant so the Z variant will be up for sale from the beginning I guess.

Something struck me today, the New Innova Diesel will lose its sales in Delhi isn't it? These are 2 litre plus diesel engines right?

Re: Toyota Innova Crysta @ Auto Expo 2016

Will the launch of Innova result in a price reduction in XUV? XUV W10 AWD AT sells at 21.4L OTR. Innova may be a 1 L more but better perceived build quality and reliability over XUV commands this premium? The interiors look way more luxurious than current version, more like Altis/Camry.

not exactly , most of the dealers circumvent the ban by billing to other areas besides everyone is expecting some relief on 30th April.

I am not sure if they have to. Does the top end version of the Innova come with AWD? If you remove AWD from W10, I guess you could save a lakh more- so a difference of 2 lakhs.

Cheers

Got an opportunity to drive this car for 4-5 kms.

The Drive- Start the car and the engine settles to a muted thrum with some vibrations felt on gear lever. Gear shift quality is better than the previous generation however the clutch is a bit on heavier side. The engine pulls effortless and can move from standstill without any accelerator input. There is plenty of torque available at low RPMs. The power delivery is quite linear and quick. In no time the car reached 130 kmh and was eager for more. The gearing is a bit on shorter side and engine felt spinning fast at 2250 rpm at 100 kmh. At this speed, the car felt super eager for overtake manoeuvres (power mode). The eco mode felt more relaxed and should keep you happy for daily drives.

The Ride- Very much supple and mature. The car felt flat throughout the above mentioned speeds. However the tuning of suspension is on a softer side which gives a better low speed ride quality than the older one. However it dint feel taut and agile like the old one. There was some amount of body roll which is acceptable for a vehicle this size.

Steering- Feedback was decent. Nothing to complain about in this department.

Some more pictures, Surely looks butch and bigger than the old one

Last row was a tight fit. The front seats were adjusted as per my frame (5.11'). I believe the old gen was more spacious here.

Green house is lesser and black upholstery make things worse.

16' wheels, Q variant gets 17 inches.

Would be more than happy to answer any query/doubt.

Re: Toyota Innova Crysta @ Auto Expo 2016

Sudeep, thanks for the details.
  • 2250 RPM at 100kmph is not bad. The current gen innova is more than 2500 rpm at that speed.
  • Suspension: It's good that they made it more supple. Sometimes I felt that my Innova is too hard on broken roads. Handling may be affected a bit but that's alright for a big MUV.
  • Space: That's a big dampener. I'm not sure about the utility value of a vehicle this big, having 7 / 8 seats and the last row being cramped.
  • Power: Good to know that the low end torque is adequate. There were some reports that compared to the current Innova, Crysta has more turbo lag.
