Re: Tata Hexa @ Auto Expo 2016

Nice review guys! Looks really good. I was there at hte expo and saw all the 3 Hexa's on display(HEXA MT, AT, TUFF).

What the folks at TML said that the SUV is production ready, and would be launched by mid 16. Its during the festive season where we will be seeing the vehicle on the road.

Looks pretty decent, seats felt comfortable(contoured seats), accessories like the HUD with the tyre pressure and the navigation system looks promising(TUFF).

Heard the sound quality as well. pretty impressive for standard option.

Well done TATA. All the very best!!

Re: Tata Hexa @ Auto Expo 2016

Is the cladding standard on all variants or specific to the higher ones? The product on the whole looks promising and futuristic to a great extent. The tail lights have some resemblance to the passat/jetta (not the illumination, just the shape) to a certain extent.
If TATA wants this to succeed then probably they too should go the Nexa way like Maruti did - have separate dealerships and service stations for the Hexa and later on add additional cars under it to basically make the customer experience better. If not, then not sure how high would this one fly.

The AT version displayed at the expo seems to have lost out on AWD and leather upholstery. Were you able to find out what other features were missing compared to the manual variant?

Right. So, after seeing the vehicles on display, what I could figure out was that they were showcasing the variants which would be available in the HEXA lineup at the time of the launch.

So primarily showcasing the two variants - AT and the MT. then the interiors - leather, 2 tone soft compound. then the accessories - rhino rack, HUD, 3D mats , wider body kit in the TUFF.

Re: Tata Hexa @ Auto Expo 2016

Reiterating the same question that I had posted earlier but without any reply.

Any launch date that has been discussed yet during the Auto Expo? Atleast a time frame would help me in holding onto my purchase of XUV500 in 2nd quarter. Innova Crysta will be way over my budget , which leaves me with only 2 contenders for my purchase.

Regards,
Rohit

Innova crysta should not be more than 1-2 lakh above the XUV which you can easily get back at the time of resale. XUV does not retain its value well same should be the case with the Hexa considering safaris history. I don't know why Tata is delaying the Hexa launch. They should strike while the iron is hot. If the innova crysta is launched before this I don't see this car succeeding unless prices start around 10L.

The current barebones innova itself is 2 lakhs above Storme, Aria or Xuv. So fat chance the new one will be priced similar. There are lot of people like me who wouldn't touch Innova except if it's a cab. So there is a decent market for Hexa to compete with the Xuv.

Re: Tata Hexa @ Auto Expo 2016

As long as Tata prices it smartly(10-15 Lac) it would become a very viable option. It would be unrealistic to compare it with Innova which is way hire in the segment price wise. There are many positives with Innova, price unfortunately is not one of them.

Re: Tata Hexa @ Auto Expo 2016

The sales guy at concorde motors, malad says it is far from ready for production. Nowhere in the sights at the plant as of now. Any idea when this is expected to launch? I read somewhere that they were suppose to be out within a fortnight from the indian auto expo 2016 showcasing. Guru's please enlighten. Cheers

I'd not be very confident of that.

For a car whose 19" rubber tyres are going to cost ~1,25,000/- every ~50k kms or every second year.

Or, whose specialised multi-terrain suspension would probably/possibly cost a lakh after ~80k kms (usually ~65k kms in regular cars, depends...).

So, generally speaking, I don't think the cost of upkeep of a car like Hexa would suit a segment like 10-15Lakh.

Tata Motors will have to climb Tiger Hill to resurrect the brand it intended to create with Aria.

Anyway, I was wondering why didn't they integrate the 6.5" Touchscreen display when they've got it on the Nexon (thats apparently production ready).

5" display from the Zest is really not the ideal size at all in such a large MUV.

Re: Tata Hexa @ Auto Expo 2016

Saw Hexa on Mum-Pune Expressway ripping @ 120-130 KM/Hr

Not sure if it was the noisy engine of my car, but Hexa appeared to be very silent

A contact at TaMo says they expect to launch it around June.

I'm in a fix now. Not sure whether to wait or go for XUV AT.

Personally, I would suggest you to wait for the HEXA. It looks as an exciting package and if it lives up to the expectations, then you would be cursing yourself for hurriedly purchasing XUV.

I am in the same boat as you and I am willing to wait till June-August(whenever they launch it) to compare these two SUV's.

Rohit

Re: Tata Hexa @ Auto Expo 2016

The Hexa would generate the same raging interest as the xuv did when the price was announced if the hexa is priced 50k below the xuv, variant for variant as the xuv and not the innova is a natural opponent of the hexa in terms of brand perception and Ass strength and reliability.

1. The hexa is a way better looker than the xuv.
2. Hexa's interiors by all accounts are better than the xuv
3. The varicor 400 is as sprightlyas the 2.2 mhawk
4. The hexa's suspension would be as good as the xuv ( a tata strength)
5. Better interior space and management than the xuv ( a tata strength)

Checks all the boxes.

Tata should address
Brand perception. But even in our forums i see a marked difference as more members are cheering for tata than scorning them. The sincere efforts of the manufacturer are slowly but surely changing our outlook.
ASS.. still the same. Needs perceptive and actual change.

Then the two homegrown giants will be the kings of the indian personal utility vehicle market and how magnificient that would be.

With cars , indian manufacturers have a little more learning to match global standards. They are younger.
But with UVs, a customer expects car like quality and dynamics but will settle happily for a little less. This strategy has helped mahindra. I hope tata has now caught on.

A manufacture who does well in the domestic market will approach the international market with more confidence and consequently will market and sell better.

TATA please take the game furthur. As Arnab goswami would put it, from the vibes around me,Hexa, kite, kite 5, Nexon...... The nation wants you to win.

Re: Tata Hexa @ Auto Expo 2016

Managed to spot the Hexa on road. A crew seemed to be filming the car and got these shots while driving at 5 kmph next to it. The Hexa certainly has great road presence and even though I spent 3-5 minutes in its company I can say its definitely more handsome and refined than an Aria!!
