In my view pricing, if in the ballpark of XUV, is not the deciding factor for Hexa sales. The deciding factor would be based on how far Tatas would go in building trust and a feel good factor during sales and post sales service experience. Tatas should provide -
1. Highest standard and extended warranty on Hexa. 5+2 yrs would be ideal.
2. Provide an exclusive sales and service center for Hexa. If not a separate showroom/ service center like Maruti has done but a more simpler dedicated sales force/ service folks/ service bays.
3. Have marketing and promotional events exclusively for Hexa both pre and post purchase. Off road test track in each major city. Off road events for Safari/ Hexa customers would be a good idea. If they can commit to at least 1 event per year right now would be ideal lollypop for attracting customers.

Re: Tata Hexa @ Auto Expo 2016

From what I've read in the last few pages, it seems that whatever Tata does with regards to Hexa - it isn't going to be enough - be it pricing, launch dates, etc.
And even if it does surpass/stand up to people's expectations, most people would still prefer to buy the competition over the Hexa.
It's justifiable to some extent as well because the lack of confidence that people have in Tata is self inflicted but we need to give them some breathing space as well and hope they are able to launch a good vfm product.

The XM manual variants with ABS, 2 Airbags, 10 Speaker Harman ICE system & other goodies sound very tempting at around 13-14L

This is perfect news. Exactly what I was waiting to hear. I really hope that this is confirmed. If yes, then it will be worth waiting for three more months for the Hexa. And they are doing the right thing by offering AT on both the variants (XM and XT), this will give a perfect choice to the consumer.

Re: Tata Hexa @ Auto Expo 2016

Variants and features looks very good, let them take couple of more months to ready their supply chain.

ABS and 2 airbags available even in base variant is a welcome move!

Can't be.

There is a centre speaker on the dashboard, clearly evident in many shots. Plus a component setup on each door. That makes it 4 speakers + 4 tweeters + centre dashboard speaker and leaves us with one speaker.

Logically thinking, it has to be a sub.

Unless TATA decided to give just one normal speaker for the third row. Or they decided to eliminate the centre dashboard speaker for the production version and just put two coaxials for the third row.

Fuel tank capacity is 60 liters.

The instrument cluster display & infotainment system of the XM/XT variants will have voice-activated commands integrated into them.

Instrument cluster will have different coloured zones of display for fuel level - Green, Orange & Red.

Instrument cluster will have DTE (Distance to Empty).

A "Juke Car" application will be available for download for all Hexa owners.

HHC (Hill Hold Control) stays activated for 3 seconds, after which you have to apply either the brakes/hand brake.

The keys will be of the flippy, foldable type.

The AT transmission alone weighs 90 kgs and is estimated to cost around 7 lakh rupees! If damaged, it can only be replaced, NOT repairable.

AT transmission is codenamed "G6450", implying G=Gear box, 6=number of gears, & 450=maximum handling torque in Nm.

The ECU for the AT is located on the top of the oil sump unit.

156PS power figure is standard across all variants of the Hexa400.

Manual gearbox weighs 68 kgs.

19-inch alloy wheels are offered in a SUV for the first time in India, company claims.

1st Free Service= 3 months/5,000 kms whichever is earlier,

2nd Free Service= 6 months/10,000 kms, whichever is earlier,

3rd Free Service= 12 months/20,000 kms, whichever is earlier.

Subsequent paid services= 12 months/20,000 km-intervals, whichever comes earlier.

Engine oil capacity= 7.5 liters. Type= 15W40.

Oil change is not required for AT gearboxes. Only top-ups will be done for any leakages.

Coolant reservoir= 9 liters, uses liquid manufactured by Servo.

Gear box oil change= every 90,000 kms. The type used is Synthetic 75W90 & capacity= 8.25 liters.

The Hexa will come with a standard warranty of 3 years/1,50,000 kms, whichever is earlier. No news on extended warranty packages yet.

Tagline used for the Hexa is "Confident Luxury."

Thank you very much for sharing these details. Appreciate you & your secret angel.

@Moderators,

I am coming from a Safari Storme background. 1.5years 32000kms(Few visits to the showroom). Prior to it - Indigo XL Petrol for 20000kms.
I am just above positive experience and I can confidently say - they are moving in a good direction.

At one time in life - I vowed to not touch anything that is T badge

I want to suggest that - please review the tag line in the official ownership threads that "service and longterm realiability remains a weak point". Not just for Tata. Same goes for Mahindra, Renault or Nissan, Fiat, Ford, VW.

It always appears as a sore eye - when I look at this tag line in some of the brilliant vehicle reviews our mod's or community did. example: Abarth Punto.

Whenever there is a blunder from workshop - these are shared by the members in the official thread or separate threads. And if any such bad experience requires individual thread - that is done too.

There are always unhappy customers and happy customers. No company has all happy customers - when it boils down to money!!. Agree?

Kindly give it a thought.

This can't be right. Since you have said that Hexa will be priced in the range of 11 - 18 L, it means the Manual XT model should be 7L cheaper than the corresponding Auto variant. Which means if Hexa XT Auto is 18L than Hexa XT Manual should be 11L. Heck even DSGs don't cost that much. Did you mean 70K by any chance ?

"Cost of AT is around 7 lakh rupees and it weighs 90 kgs", is the info sent by the birdies.

I think something got mixed up in this info. The manual 6 speed gearbox on Storme Varicor400 is named G6450.

This is something which I am surprised at that too on an engine which not really new to the market. The time period of the paid services only ascertain the fact that Tata can easily make the service intervals to be longer than 3/6months. 3months seems too short IMHO. The innova too is a pain this this area with a 5k/6 months service interval.
