I wonder if the drive modes also bias the forward-rear torque distribution (in the 4x4 variants at least)? Or is the on-demand torque distribution completely independent of drive mode selected?
In the Aria, if I am not mistaken, one could disengage the AWD mode and choose 4x2 RWD manually. Is it the same with the Hexa?

Here are the details of the Hexa's Automatic transmission:

Manufactured by Punch Powerglide Strasbourg, France, it is referred to as the "6L50".

Re: Tata Hexa @ Auto Expo 2016

From whatever I have read so far, seems an exceptional release by Tatas - could really build on their Tata Zest success.

Only worry nagging me is that huge 2.2 ton weight, quite unnecessary these days, IMO. Even the Tata Aria & Safari Storme stood at 1920 kgs & 2080 kgs respectively, so what on earth did they do here? Guess roadtests will tell us the real story...

Re: Tata Hexa @ Auto Expo 2016

Features wise, I see smart key and cruise control not mentioned anywhere. Are they present ?

otherwise, a perfect blend of SUV and Van. Congrats TATA.

Cruise control is present. Buttons on the right side of the steering wheel.

No mention of smart key/keyless entry.

As birdies had revealed earlier (Tata Hexa @ Auto Expo 2016), the Hexa will come with a set of flippy, foldable-type keys.

Re: Tata Hexa @ Auto Expo 2016

I saw the map of the suppliers and was surprised to see Saudi Arabia up there - not exactly a nation known for either its automotive manufacturing or engineering prowess. What possibly is Tata sourcing from there? Or did someone goof up - "SA" - Saudi Arabia instead of South Africa?

That's more than decent upholstery - from the look of it , well crafted - with attention to detail.

I for sure would hesitate to put a seat cover on this piece of art !

Cheers !

Keyless entry won't make it to any Tata vehicles till 2017.

Had read somewhere earlier.
TML has already inked a deal with some German manufacturer of those sensors and the keyless system.
Apparently the same guys supply Mercedes.

Some talks too, of setting up their factory in India instead of China.
Not sure what is the current status now.
Will definitely try to Google relevant info and post here.

Re: Tata Hexa @ Auto Expo 2016

It seems Tata has put in a lot of effort in design, attention to detail even for smaller things, audio setup, intensive powertrain testing, etc. and I wish it should change the perception of TML brand.

Does it come with dual-zone climate control?

Apart from the mentioned features, here are the few things which the Hexa misses out:
- Keyless entry at least in the top variant
- Bigger touchscreen display with in built Sat-Nav
- A different steering wheel design to distinguish it from Zest/Bolt
- Sunroof (to compete with competition)
