I understand you might just be wanting to see how it looks but the D pillar in black is given to give a "floating roof" effect. If you colour it like the body, the roof will no longer float

Also the white roof on blue would look great I suppose. On another note, racing stripes (whites ones on black/blue) too would look good.

Re: Tata Hexa @ Auto Expo 2016

Just thinking. With the Hexa already weighing in at 2.2 tonnes, won't things like the sunroof continue to rack up weight. I estimate at least another 15kg to the car, while also reducing headroom and altering the centre of gravity. I agree to the comments that's not much weight but already a portly vehicle, adding more weight to it doesn't really make sense. The other possibility is a later introduction of the model with sunroof or when a mid-cycle refresh happens ( long way to go for that though!)

I am not a big fan of the 19" alloys, for me 17-18 will do and perhaps could make the ride smoother as well. Big Rims usually improve performance but generates a firmer ride.

I think they pretty much got the design and features all locked in well before, and such a late launch was for racking up the kms, testing the ride and trying to strike a good balance. It also could be why we haven't seen any STAND OUT USP.

The other important elements to look into are:

- the Fuel Economy (which is not mentioned as of now). I wonder why Tata couldn't improve much on the power output and torque of the Varicor400, or is it to strike a balance with the FE.

- the space in all 3 rows ( I consider that one of the most important aspect of all)

It should weight close to 2.5 tons with all fluids and accessories. And close to 3 tons of more with a full load of passengers.

15kgs on the roof is just 0.5% of all this to have any significant impact to the body roll.

PS - Google says the average weight of an Asian elephant is 2700 kg.

The much hyped about drive modes do nothing much than alter the engine maps, and Innova also offers eco and power modes

Tata's system is more akin to LR's terrain response system than Innova's driving modes. Innova only alters the throttle response.

While for hexa, it alters steering feedback, throttle as well as torque distribution for the various situations. We cannot call them drive modes along the same line as Innova.

Just my view.

Since you were reiterating this again and again I spoke to a very senior person in my org whose childhood friend runs a tyre business. He checked and told me that as per his friend tyres in these sizes are available between 16 and 20k each. For 20k you get top brands.

Since I did not speak directly I could not check what top brands he is speaking about but my guess is that 15k to 16k must be those imported chinese and thai tyres whereas higher brands probably are like what Praveen mentioned below.

Please note the above prices are for pirelli. MRF should be lower than the one mentioned above.

Its the same tyre specification on my Volvo xc90

Quite unwise actually, if Toyota or Mahindra announce offers, those who've been on the fence, holding back from them could ditch TATA & choose the car brand they've been aspiring for.
I am sorry but your posts are sounding more and more as if you are from one of the competitors and completely rattled that Tata came up with such a product. Or are you from one of the tire/alloy companies making ONLY 16-17" rims and scared that 19" would become standard across the segment?

Btw I am a Ford fanboy. Not Tatas.

Re: Tata Hexa @ Auto Expo 2016

Looking at the pics, it appears that IRVM is manual and not the one with automatic dimming. If so, it would be a bummer on such premium vehicle.

Rightly pointed! Aria 150bhp had a company claimed mileage of 15.05kmpl. If they've matched it they'd have mentioned it. But to be honest, I don't think it's possible they'll get any more than 13kmpl (ARAI ratings) with such wide tyres. I guess it's not too bad for this segment if real world mileage is ~12kmpl.
The quoted weight of 2280kg of Hexa is for the 4x4, the 2 wheel drive should be around 120kgs lighter i.e 2160kg. This is the difference between the two variants in the existing Aria. Hexa 4x4 seems to have gained 55kg when compared to Aria 4x4 model.

Now I have used the Aria PureLX model for 24000km in 18 months and I did not feel the lack of power anytime. The old Innova was better in the initial 0-40 run but after that the VGT turbo of the Aria simply runs away.

I can say the USP of the HEXA will be it's ride quality and seating comfort. The Innova Crysta is the comparable model to the Hexa not the XUV. Both come with captain seats and a decent boot which the XUV lacks.

Regarding the tyre size the width of the tyre remains the same as Aria only the profile has gone down. Since MRF is the sole supplier to the Ford Endeavor they may not be that bad on the Hexa. And yes as of now these will be available only from Tata till we start getting from other tyre manufacturers. By the way the Duster still comes with MRF and most of the owners are quite happy with the ride quality .

Re: Tata Hexa @ Auto Expo 2016

Thanks to all sharing pics. The Hexa indeed has an incredible street presence and seems to have the right proportions (at least from the pics).

Convincing my wife to let go our Innova and *UPGRADE* to the HEXA has been very very challenging though. Still not successful.

Even i had completed 41.5K km in 2.5 years in my ARIA pure LX . Ride quality is superb, never felt the lack of power

Re: Tata Hexa @ Auto Expo 2016

In all the pictures, it seems that the AT does not have the 4x4 capability i.e. the multi drive mode. Is this now confirmed that the AT will not come in the 4x4 avatar?
