Thanks. It's a very tough decision now. Macan is really good. The new face lift Cayenne is equally inviting. But the last call from the dealer was only about Turbo variant which is way too expensive. Not worth my kind of usage. I have given myself 3 months to take a call. Meanwhile they might bring the Diesel and S variants. Considering the fast depreciation of this segment, I better take time to decide

It is actually new model all together. Looks are so similar that it looks like a facelift.

Porsche has all together abandoned diesel thanks to parent VW dieselgate. Macan is last one with diesel. Newer Macan or Cayenne will be petrol, hybrid or electric.

End of financial year, you get very good deals. Happy motoring.

How about the upcoming Cayenne Coupe? Looks fabulous and surely would be more exclusive than the regular Cayenne or the Macan.

I am never a fan of coupes, no idea why. Cayenne coupe I believe is a recent launch, not seen one in real, so tough to comment. Options are open. Exclusivity is something that may take the priority

Anyone heard about the joy reward? Just read about it. Sounds very interesting. Would like to hear someone who's opted for it.

X1 facelift caught un-camouflaged. Those grilles continue to grow larger

This post is to express my sincere thanks and wishes to the existing owners for all their help and guidance whenever there was any doubts to be cleared. My experience with Navnit Motors, Bangalore has been excellent.

I love this brand, so I picked up a BMW 310 R in place of the X1 There is my ownership thread running on it. I also fell in love with the BMW R nine T yesterday at the showroom, may be something more is coming on 2 wheels !!

Once again, thanking everyone here and wishing all of you a wonderful ownership experience ahead !

In case any of you feel you want to gift a well maintained X1 to your friend or loved one, check the classifieds section.

See you all in the Porsche ownership thread. Coming Soon

Re: Next Gen BMW X1 Launched @ Auto Expo 2016

Does anyone has E-mail ID of BMW Indian management?

Facing severe issue with Pirelli Cinturato P7 RFT tyres 225 55 R17. They get easily damaged on Indian highway touring.

Previously 1 tyre got damaged while return from Indore on highway in May 2019 which I thought was a one off incident. Image below.

Lost two tyres during a trip to Bhavnagar, GJ in 2nd week of June 2019. Attached Image. One of them got damaged by a small stone. Second one developed a tear.

BMW India is blaming external factors and says tyres have no manufacturing defect.

My previous car Vento with Michelin XM2 tyres still hasn't shown any issue which has done more highway trip than X1.

I strongly believe Pirelli Cinturato P7 RFT aren't meant for Indian highway conditions.

Any help be appreciated.

Re: Next Gen BMW X1 Launched @ Auto Expo 2016

Hi All, continuing from the previous post from el lobo on tyres, I'm having almost similar issues with my tyres. Replaced 4 tyres till now which is 18 months of ownership.

Two tyres have remained untouched and in the last service (2nd service) workshop tells me these are almost gone and I have to replace. Worn out in 16K Kms , imagine my surprise.

Are there any other tyres one should consider? What have other owners done for your X1s

Regards
Sid

In continuation to my above post BMW India refused any help. Blamed external factor.

Replaced two tyres with Bridgestone Turanza RFT T001; claimed under Secure. Paid 25% depreciation, compulsory deductible and for weights per tyre.

Pirelli make? Can you share pictures of issue in tyres resulting in replacement?

Did you claim it in Secure?

BMW India gives two options with X1; one being Bridgestone Turanza RFT T001 and next Pirelli Cinturato P7(crap tyres).

BMW India is installing tyres meant for their sedans 3 series & 5 series and Mini Cooper on their SAV X1. Reason unknown.

Another option in RFT is Michelin P3ST ZP in 225 55 R17. MRP 15,000.

BMW charges 22,000 for RFT of Bridgestone & Pirelli.

Since I do lot of touring, RFT will be my choice. Normal tubeless Michelin P3ST 225 55 R17 cost 11,000.

Rs. 4,000 extra for RFT is worth it.

Secure wouldn't cover Michelin RFT. Guess additional 7,000 is their margin.

I did replace under Secure in the first year but now I don't have secure. Even if I buy secure the tyres are worn out in 16K KMs and I will have to pay full amount.

I like the idea of Michelin RFT @ 15K. How do they compare with Bridgestone and Pirelli?

Do wheel rotation every 10,000 Kms. That should enhance tyre life.

Pirelli is useless.

Between Bridgestone and Michelin; I would prefer Michelin any day.

Using Michelin tyres XM1, XM1+ and XM2 for more than 15 years and they have never disappointed. XM2 lasted 80,000 kms on my previous car Ford Fiesta Classic.

RunFlat are termed to go out in 20,000-25,000 kms which is a shame.

Re: Next Gen BMW X1 Launched @ Auto Expo 2016

Can some BMW owner or others throw light on following.

1. Does BMW warranty (normal or extended) covers road side assistance and coverage for tyres and alloys.

2. Is BMW secure cover add-on required in addition to outside insurance as it covers tyres as well as road side assistance.
