It's the presence of 1.3L engine and that initial pricing blunder that caused this. Had S-Cross been initially launched with only 1.6L engine and with the current prices, there would have been many takers than this. People who were interested in S-Cross were lured by the cheaper tag of the 1.3L.

Now, what is there for enthusiasts? A 120BHP 1.2L / 140BHP 1.4L Turbo Petrol engined S-Cross / international Vitara? I don't think even the 1L BoosterJet will satisfy the enthusiasts.

Any update from your birdie on the Android Auto update for the previous-gen S-Cross?
Am taking delivery of my 1.6 S-Cross on 30th and am looking forward to using Android Auto mainly for Maps! The other cosmetic features do not seem as useful to me!

I agree that 1.3L was the prime reason but I am glad that they had that option otherwise I couldn't have afforded to buy S-cross. I believe Maruti would bring premium offerings to India and Vitara S will be launched next year(if the speculations turn out to be true). Both S-cross and Vitara S are priced similarly in the UK and if they provide 1.3L in Vitara S it would be the end of S-cross. So I feel their game plan might be to provide 1.6L in Vitara S and pit it against Creta.

Maybe they will provide the detuned version of 2.0L (which is supposed to be available with Renegade) or is it too much to ask?

S-Cross launch delayed. Got to wonder why. Changes in prices due to FAME regulation? On the other hand, we would get reviews in today by magazines.

Overdrive Review
Quote:
Like before, the Maruti Suzuki S-Cross' balance between ride quality and handling is one of the best parts of the car. The suspension goes about doing its job pretty quietly, soaking up all the small to medium sized pot holes without any complaints. The larger ones though, do cause a fair bit of movement in the cabin. But that's not something to complain about, because A) it's not a proper SUV, and you don't expect that of it, and B) it ensures that handling isn't a mess. The suspension does allow for a little bit of body roll, but it's well-controlled and nothing unnerving. The new tyres meanwhile, are a huge improvement from before, and there isn't too much road noise, squealing or understeer when you push the car. At the same time, the steering is sharp and offers a decent amount of feedback, which instills confidence to make quick direction changes. That said though, I do wish it weighed up some more at high speeds, like in the 1.6 variant.

Overall:

Quote:
As before, the S-Cross is just the right size to be a practical family car, while remaining compact enough to deal with the urban crawl. Its striking new face certainly gives it more road presence but it lacks the appeal of an SUV and doesn’t quite have the emotional clout of its rivals. Instead, the S-Cross plays to Maruti’s strengths and is worth considering if you’re looking for a practical, no-nonsense family car at an attractive price

Quote:
Our verdict on the S-Cross is pretty simple. The car is more mature looking now, and as we have mentioned time and time again, it looks considerably better in the flesh than in pictures. The interior quality though, is what has really impressed us even more and the cabin does really look like it belongs on a more expensive offering.

re: 2016 Suzuki S-Cross facelift leaked. EDIT: Launched at Rs. 8.49 lakh

I must say from an ugly duckling, the S-Cross has been transformed into quite an handsome car. Ever the chrome on the front actually looks good.

And those alloys - boy Maruti has got someone who finally cares aboul alloy design. They look quite good.

'Cept for the fact that they dropped the 1.6 engine, I am liking what I read so far.
Drive on,
Shibu.

Video Reviews :

It looks like the car is much slower than previous S-Cross 1.3. 0-100 on speedo is around 15-16 seconds.
