Similar kind of lethargic performance is offered by the Polo 1.2 MPI.
This kind of performance for a million rupee plus car is simply, not done.

I wonder how it fares in the roll on timings though.

Am I the only one who finds old S-Cross design far more eye-pleasing? New grill and front design isn't something I find appealing.

Also, with 1.3L engine and 5-speed gearbox, isn't S-Cross now poor value for money? I was blown-away by performance of 1.6L but same 1.3L in S-Cross and Ignis is something difficult to digest. I sincerely wish for a bigger heart here, which S-Cross totally deserves.

I think I read somewhere about the new generation model's dimensions being a bit different than the outgoing one. Specifically in terms of height, ground clearance and boot space. Do we have any solid information as such on the same?

re: 2016 Suzuki S-Cross facelift leaked. EDIT: Launched at Rs. 8.49 lakh

Was reading the launch article in TheHindu. What caught my attention is the below paragraph by Maruti Suzuki senior executive director, marketing and sales, R.S. Kalsi: "Nexa is the brightest star in Maruti’s transformation. If Nexa was a company, it would be the third largest automaker in the country"

Though it might be true, I see a lot of pride and too much confidence in that statement. Of course I don't think any automobile company might break that in the near future, but getting this to the head and increasing head-weight might become a blunder in the long run. This attitude is pretty obvious with no automatic version in S-Cross range.

re: 2016 Suzuki S-Cross facelift leaked. EDIT: Launched at Rs. 8.49 lakh

There wasn't much wrong in the pre-facelift S-Cross as a total package except perhaps the drooping face. They have sorted that out, so but no matter how much I try to like/ignore the grinning new face, it just doesn't seem to grow on me - maybe it is just the overdose of chrome & hopefully would be better on the lower variants with either black/body-colored grill.

EBD was available across the range in the pre-facelift as well.

Apart from that "All Disk Breaks", I don't see any compelling reason to have S-Cross over Brezza.

You are not only one here, who feels that the new version is ugly.
I too, preferred the understated looks and the 1.6 unit of the older one, to the whale toothed face & single engine option on this new version.

Design wise I believe "to every man his poison".

I believe the engines in the Ignis, Swift etc have the fixed geometry turbos, while the S-Cross, Ciaz etc get the variable geometry turbo.I daresay the variable geometry turbo would ease the low rpm lag too. This would explain the difference in power and torque figures. But yes, the engine is not as punchy as in the smaller cars given that it is much heavier. However a lot of 1.3 owners are pretty pleased with the performance of their vehicles and appreciate the linearity of the engine compared to the 1.6 where the turbo lag was more pronounced.

The 1.6 will be missed.

Drive on,
Shibu

Few S-cross features comparing to Brezza:
  • Tilt and telescopic steering.
  • More knee room space at rear bench and more boot space.
  • Overall better build quality.
  • Better dashboard plastic quality.
  • Better looks than the previous model (of course its a subjective for each and everyone's personal choice).
  • Last but not the least, the so called Nexa Experience .

What have they done to slow it down.

I do not understand SHVS completely but is it something that will impact the the acceleration as well?

I have noticed that even Ciaz SVHS was slower when compared to the one without SVHS. Thanks to "Kitna Deti Hai" ECU map .

Autocar V Box : 0-100
Ciaz 1.3 : 12.99 sec
Ciaz 1.3 SVHS : 15.5 sec
