Re: 2016 Suzuki S-Cross facelift leaked. EDIT: Launched at Rs. 8.49 lakh

Like I have said before, the S-Cross is a VFM Product/Proposition which ever you may call it. With the Facelift, Maruti has increased it's visual appeal with better front styling. I like this new one over the old one. It has managed to keep other good bits like Good Space, Good Equipment List and Very Good Fuel Efficiency intact. This should result in Increased Numbers (IMO, it's the styling that'll bring them). It's just that it lacks that oomph factor.

Though Creta is good, it's overpriced by a fair margin. The Base E+ is priced at 9.99 lakhs and it's poorly equipped. The Next variant S starts from 11.3. Lakhs, though better then E+ still lags behind S-Cross Zeta.

And those who aren't aware, the Base Creta's are powered by 1.4 Diesel with 90bhp on tap. So, one is just spending that additional money for proper C-SUV looks on Creta over the S-Cross which is a Crossover type.

In fact, Those who want that SUV look and are ready to compromise a bit on Quality can look at Brezza. While those looking for Premium version have S-Cross as option. Overall it's a win win situation for Maruti. I think they'll be happy with numbers that Brezza & S-Cross 1.3 are doing at the moment.

But, that 1.6 S-Cross was a different animal altogether, both in terms of Sheer Performance & Sales Numbers. If Maruti had Launched it only with 1.6 Diesel, the situation would have been so different with it generating numbers like in range of 6-8k/month.

I think apart from the fact that he mentioned space as cramped, the PD review put the right perspective on the S Cross Facelit. He really nailed it, when he mentioned that it was a stop gap arrangement for Suzuki, until they probably get a proper SUV (Vitara in this case i guess).

Is the price same across India for specific variants? I just checked at Gurgaon, Bangalore and Patna, price is same for each variant.

The first pic is of S-Cross Zeta. The headlights are not smoked and DRL is missing.

Thanks for sharing

Looks like a mini BMW. And the halogen projector in the lower versions looks decent too. It would be a good choice for those looking for an upgrade since they can upgrade to HIDs in the projector rather than getting stuck with the LEDs which are non-replaceable. Somehow the chrome on the grill looks better on the lower end variants since it continues to the headlights. On the top end version, the blackened headlights make the chrome stand out on the grill. I think the looks will definitely grab some numbers.

It's good to see that even the non DRL head lamps looks good on the lower spec models. Finally S-cross gets the much needed dominating head on look.

It seems they are still on vacation and just served some urgent requirement

Car still does not show up in configurator.

Re: 2016 Suzuki S-Cross facelift leaked. EDIT: Launched at Rs. 8.49 lakh

Any word on whether a petrol and / or automatic variant is to be launched any time soon? I already have the outgoing model, and am more than willing to swap it for this one (provided it comes in petrol and automatic). The suspension, handling and general road manners on this (or at least the outgoing model) are probably one of the best in the segment.

Seems like Maruti does not have a competent petrol engine. The closest they have is the 1.4L K-series present in Ertiga and Ciaz. This however does not have great reviews. The void is present in both Vitara Brezza and S-Cross. Also no updates on a new 1.5L petrol from Maruti.

Autocar also quotes the same in the review for the facelift:

Yes Jeevith. The S Cross with the petrol engine would be launched in the 1st quarter ( Jan - Mar ) of 2018. The same 1.4 litre powering the Ciaz and with the same state of tune. Confirmed by Sai Service Nexa, Hyderabad. Would be launched with the 5MT and / or 4AT. They do not have any news of the 1.5 litre, though.

Thanks for the update guys.

Honestly, I'm okay with the 1.4 litre engine (I have have the Ciaz as well). For Bangalore traffic, it's more than competent. Just not sure how the same state of tune will work on a heavier car though. If it drives and responds the same as the Ciaz, will be swapping my S-cross for sure.

Also want to change the colour to granite grey (after having been conned by Pratham Motors into taking the silver, despite having ordered grey to begin with). If it were available, would have opted for that, but I'm pretty sure black's not going to happen either.

Also, I'm assuming the petrol will be cheaper than the diesel. So my exchange cost shouldn't be much!? The s-cross would have done about 24k in two years (i.e., its a Dec 15 car).
