Kia is coming all out! While they may not take away market share from Suzuki, I think Hyundai will price Kia just a tad premium than the Hyundai cars and that straight way means companies like VW, Skoda, Ford are really the ones in the red zone! With no new products in the next 2 years, these 3 companies will struggle against the onslaught of Kia. And since Hyundai and Kia will eventually share platforms and parts, it does look like a success story for Kia.

Would not be surprised if existing Hyundai dealers are convinced in to opening Kia showrooms and service centres!

How are these non-homologated Kia imports running on regular white board AP plates? I thought individual RTOs have to certify them based on ARAI homologation approval.

I saw the Kia Carnival MUV during my recent trip overseas and I could not help imagining what a worthy rival it can be to the Innova. The Kia Carnival looks fantastic, in fact way better than the current Innova crysta, very well masking its MUV silhouette. Very few MUVs can look good and the Kia Carnival is one of them. Wish Hyundai and Kia finally take the fight to Toyota in this segment which has been unchallenged in the last decade.

Re: Kia Motors coming to India

Spotted a sky blue Kia Picanto in BLR. (i10 competitor ?)

Anyone has any details on specifications ? Looks fresh in our traffic. Sadly, no pics as I was totally caught by surprise.

The Carnival is half a size bigger than the Innova and therefore not even in the same segment. Carnival costs closer to Sorento here and I dont think India is a market for a 35 lakh rupee people carrier.

Re: Kia Motors coming to India

Guys any leads on how to get your hands on a Kia dealership? My friend is interested but there has been no reply from Kia and their dealer form on the website doesn't seem to be working. If anyone has links with the company itself and put me to them, it would be really helpful. TIA!

Strange scene in South Delhi today. Noted this red thing in my rear view and thought it was a Kia. Given that the plant is coming up near Hyderabad and that most sightings of Kias have been there or thereabout, I wasn’t so sure. So I let it overtake me (while still in the jam) and voila - there it was. A red Kia Rio, running on a temp number. I wonder what it was doing so far from home. It did not even look like it was being driven / tested by a driver - seemed like a regular Joe on his way to work.

Re: Kia Motors coming to India

1. Doesn't look like a temporary number to me. There are no state initials (DL/HR etc.) on the number plate.
2. Are Kia planning to open a corporate office in NCR? Doubtful though, but that might be the reason a regular joe is taking this car to work.

Re: Kia Motors coming to India

Looks like Kia is considering launching the Stinger in India. This one just landed in Chennai.

If launched, it would give the Mustang, CLA 45 AMG and the S5 a tough time.
