Re: 3rd-gen Skoda Superb launched in India at Rs. 22.68 lakh

Nice stats, thanks for sharing. Typo in 7NM torque, you must have meant 70Nm.

Additionally, 0-100 with a manual gearbox depends hugely on the competence of the driver in upshifting to 2 at the correct RPM and technique. With pretty high G forces acting on him/her, it needs practice to achieve it . Not so with a DSG .

Re: 3rd-gen Skoda Superb launched in India at Rs. 22.68 lakh

Looks too Audish. Just remove the grille and I'd find it hard to believe if it's a Skoda or an Audi. I know both are owned by Volkswagen, but why such similar designs for 2 different companies?

In other ways, it's a cheaper (and maybe better?) proposition compared to the big 3 German and Swedish sedans. If only the brand value was more premium..

I just got a call from my SA of autobahn mumbai informing me that Skoda is planning an increase in prices. My delivery has been promised in 10 days(first lot) however it appears that the superb will have a price increase even before the first ones roll out!! And even before April 1 when the increases actually take effect.

Not sure about the leaking sunroof, but the crappy AC is something almost any superb owner can attest to.

Can existing/past owners of the outgoing Superb please comment on the above? Are these common issues, or did the gentleman in question end up with a rare lemon?

Me too! I got a call that my car is allotted but they are waiting for new prices! Seems skoda is getting greedy after getting a good response. Not fair to increase prices even for the first lot!

Abbaby pls also check your Mumbai ex-showroom price. It seems they are adding 5% instead of 4.5% octroi.

Really! Have you driven a Superb lately and experienced it first hand or is it just hearsay?

I am a owner of 2012 Superb 1.8TSI MT and have faced neither. The AC of the Superb was upgraded since 2012 models and is chiller now and has faced the North Indian Summers (upto 46 degrees) with aplomb since the last 4 years with zero issues. Zero issues with my sunroof either, no leaks, no squeaks, or for that matter zero issues overall with the hardware, except maybe a squeaking parcel tray and more importantly a pathetic service backup which I have taken onus upon myself to solve. Just love my TSI MT and it is ageing very well for a long ownership period as it's a low mileage car. Read more details on my ownership thread.

I drive the 2010 model 1.8 TSI AT. It has had a poor ac from day one. I know lots of other people who also have the same model who all complain of the issue. If they actually fixed it at a later date, then thats great.

Coming to the explanation you have given, the main reason for sticking to 250 Nm is keeping costs in check and parts sharing. The 7 speed is already used by the polo, vento, octavia.
Exactly, that was what i wanted to say.
Apart from component sharing and costs i didn't actually see any reason for using a handicapped gearbox

Re: 3rd-gen Skoda Superb launched in India at Rs. 22.68 lakh

Checked it out today. Beautiful car and looks like Octavia Senior. Acres of space and impeccable interiors.

Noted that my sales guy clearly mentioned that they are waiting for the new prices!

I have a superb since Aug 2011 (MFG April 2011) haven't faced any issue with the Sunroof leaking or the performance of the AC.

I do clean the sunroof tracks myself every 6 months, as its extensively used by my kids, when I go to my native place in Konkan.

Only thing I had replaced is my DSG gearbox last year in June and thankfully I had extended warranty. But the reps from Skoda India told me that they are changing DSG gearbox free of cost even without the extended warranty, I don't know how far is this true..

3rd-gen Skoda Superb launched in India at Rs. 22.68 lakh

It's really unprofessional to increase prices right away IMO. I mean I can understand "launch" price but to increase it straight off the bat leaves a bad taste. But then we're talking VAG here. Nothing should surprise.

EDIT: sorry, unless of course the hike is the budget related one and not on the car price per se.
