preview.
Looks like the bigger brother of the Octavia? You bet:
It measures 4,861 mm in length, 1,864 mm in width, 1,483 mm in height and has a wheelbase of 2,841 mm. Its larger than its predecessor in every aspect...
...and a lot more proportionate:
Where the 2nd-gen was quirky, this 3rd-gen is clean & understated:
Signature Skoda grill with the new logo:
Bi-xenon headlamps. You see those parallel lines ahead? They are illuminated too. Notice the crystal detailing inside:
DRL doubles up as a turn indicator. Don't miss the headlamp washers:
Fog lamps have the cornering function. Notice the front parking sensor here:
Aggressive bonnet with prominent lines:
215/55 R17 tyres. These are 'Stratos' alloy wheels standard on the L&K variant. The Style variant gets 'Helios' alloy wheels:
Sporty ORVMs with integrated turn indicators:
Request sensor present on both the front doors. Design is so much classier than the black buttons we usually see:
The panoramic sunroof runs beyond the B-pillar. However, the openable area inside is much lesser. Also, like the Octavia, it opens outwards (above the roof):
LED tail lamps. Notice the crystal detailing inside them:
Reverse camera makes its debut on this looooong sedan:
Integrated boot lip spoiler:
Available with a choice of 2 engines - 1.8L petrol & 2.0L diesel:
Bonnet is held in place by 2 pneumatic struts. Its opening mechanism is unconventional too:
The TSI makes 320 Nm (MT) or 250 Nm (DSG). We know the option enthusiasts will prefer:
In my opinion, the car looks a lot larger in dimensions with the Candy White body colour. Other 3 body colours are Magnetic Brown, Black Magic Pearl and Business Gray (as above):
Sophisticated is the word that I'd use to describe the interiors. In India, we don't get an all-black interior option. Skoda have chosen the safe, beige-black theme:
It's got simple lines and every thing looks like it has been designed using some geometrical instrument. No quirky shapes here:
Easy to read instrument cluster with a coloured MID:
Start-stop button located where you'd slot in your key:
One touch up/down on all 4 windows. ORVMs are heated too:
Laurin & Klement branded door scuff plate:
Suspended-type A-pedal. We would've expected the organ-type at this price:
12-way electrically adjustable front seats. The driver's seat gets a memory function too:
The seats are perforated in the L&K variant. Reason: the front seats are ventilated:
Notice the openable area of the sun roof. It isn't as much as it appears on the outside:
The sunshade is a manual one!
6.5" touchscreen infotainment system + 12-speaker 610W Canton Sound System. Notice the mood lighting strip too. Colour options are - white, green and blue:
Dual zone climate control for the front passengers. Second row gets their own adjustment too. The buttons on the extreme right and left are for the cooled front seats:
I'm not complaining but I don't like dummy buttons in a car for which I'd pay Rs. 29.xx lakh (ex-showroom):
Yes, you do get paddle shifts too, in addition to the tiptronic mode:
Electronic handbrake:
3 cup holders:
Centre armrest console is cooled...
...& illuminated:
There's some place in front of the gear lever to park your smartphone:
Another storage bin to the right side of the steering wheel:
The passenger seat gets 12-way electrical adjustment too. No memory function though:
Height adjustable seat belts:
Another look at the clean dashboard lines. Air-vents have a chrome surround. The glovebox has a soft opening and closing action:
Illuminated & cooled glovebox. Notice the SD card slot here:
Control for the sunroof and cabin lights:
Auto dimming IRVM. No button:
Dash mounted speaker:
Both front doors get a Skoda umbrella!
Illuminated vanity mirror on both sides:
Beige door pad with a black top:
Manual sunshade on each door:
This is the seat for the Bosses! Just notice the legroom here!
Skoda claims that under thigh support has improved and I have no reason to doubt that. The seats were very comfortable. The cushioning was on the firmer side:
Believe it or not, this is actually called the 'Boss Button' where the
sethji can electrically move the front passenger seat ahead to free additional room:
With a 5.11 ft driver, I (5.10 ft) had more than enough knee room at the back:
Integrated cupholders & pen holder:
Rear seat passengers can access the boot. Very nifty feature:
The back seat splits in a 60:40 ratio. Notice the anchor points for the child seat on the backrest:
ISOFIX mounts:
It gets a total of 8 airbags!
Rear air-con vents. Passengers can set their own temperature here independent of the 2 zones up ahead:
White cabin lamps here too:
Rear windscreen gets a manual sunshade:
Because of the way the boot opens, the Superb is seen as a hatchback in some countries:
625 litres of boot space. 1,760 litres with the rear seats folded!
12V power socket here. Don't miss the luggage hooks:
Cargo net beneath the parcel shelf:
Boot is illuminated too:
Fifth wheel isn't an alloy. It's steel:
Narrower tyre too:
Electronic boot opener / closer:

Detailed Pricing.Ex Showroom Mumbai
1.8 TSI Petrol Manual - Style 22.68 lakh
1.8 TSI Petrol Automatic Style 23.91 lakh
2.0-TDI Diesel Automatic Style 26.39 lakh
1.8 TSI Petrol Automatic L&K 26.89 lakh
2.0 TDI Diesel Automatic L&K 29.36 lakh
Specification Source: Zigwheels
22.68 lacs for the base model would probably mean the top end end hitting around 26.5-27 lacs(Just a vague guess). That would probably translate to a figure of around 33-34 lacs OTR in bangalore. Guess it is a decent price for such a loaded car.
Skoda has got such nice cars, wish they had got such nice After sales too. The car seems to be a winner, let's see how market responds.
Key question is is the new Superb Style variant equivalent to the Ambition variant and the fully loaded Style+ (for current Octavia) or the Elegance (for outgoing Superb)?
That will make the true difference in the value perception! I am assuming it tends towards the Elegance variants rather than the stripped-down (and unpopular) Ambitions.
QUESTION ANSWERED: Mix of the 2 - India-specific brochure added!
The lower end one misses out on the electric tailgate, canton audio sound system, cooled seats, color MID and ambient lighting. Not a huge difference to be honest.
I think this is very good pricing!
If only they could do something about their brand image, they would have another winner on their hands much like the previous Superbs.
With this car, it kind of makes the lower models offered by the Big 3 Germans seem like daylight robbery. The power is nearly the same but with more space and more features. A lot of sensible people will tend to look towards the Superb I think and ignore the Big 3 altogether.
A detailed Team-Bhp should clarify a lot of things! Maybe I can replace my 6 year old Jetta with this.
Interesting times ahead!

Penetrative pricing, just like the Endeavour clap:. Seeing well-priced new cars is such a breath of fresh air. Much cheaper than the Camry which is priced at 29.12 lakhs (petrol) and 32.23 lakhs (hybrid).
The new Superb will take away customers even from segments below & above it.
Sucks that Skoda is doing away with a manual in the diesel :Frustrati. A lot of us like our MTs, and it's also the more reliable choice (compared to the DSG).
Seems the Style is not spec-ed too bad. Probably electric front passenger seats and driver fatigue control would be nice to have. Maybe 3-zone Climatronic.
The good part is (if the specs are correct), that the 1.8TSI MT has 320NM of torque compared to the 250NM of the 7DSG :-)
Nopes. petrol manual definitely resurrected! 350 Nm of torque without any DSG limiting :-)
The 7 speed DSG is definitely the same Octavia/Polo TSI restricted to 250Nm

Doubt it. Majority of the customer base will 'Ooh' and 'Aah' the Superb, test drive it, speak volumes about what a great car it is-And then go buy the Camry. :)
Same thing happened with the Octavia. It is probably a better car in every way compared to the Corolla. But the Corolla outsells it by a factor of 4 or 5.
All courtesy of the image and perception the phrase 'Skoda Sales and Service' invokes.
Went to Vinayaka post launch to book the 1.8 Tsi Manual, only to be told that Bangalore launch will be two days after. The display car was parked outside and it looked stunning. It should create a few ripples in the market: Btw: the waiting period for diesel motor is 3 months and one month for petrol manual is what I was informed.
The range of exterior colors offered seems quite limited - Only grey, while, brown and black. I was expecting the Octavia blue at least to be offered.
The 1.8 TSI Manual sounds delicious. The pricing is great too. Heck, we are talking over 20 Lakhs for Polo GTI which has the same engine.
I have doubts whether the Polo GTI is indeed being offered with a 7 speed DSG or the 6 speed manual. Because so far we have seen that for all VAG cars with the 7 speed DSG, the torque is being limited to 250 Nm.
