Mercedes E-Class Edition E launched in India

Mercedes-Benz has been selling the E-Class in India for 20 years. Over the period, the German carmaker has sold 32,000 units of the luxury sedan in the country and to commemorate this milestone, it has launched the Edition E special edition of the car.

Re: Mercedes E-Class Edition E launched in India

So Mercedes seems to have become the Maruti of the luxury segment in terms of launches. They'll have a formal launch for anything. Over here just about 3 features added

Would have expected them to throw in a few more features considering this is probably their way to trying to get E classes to move faster before the new E comes in.

From Mercedes India's view point. - A far better way to move stock piles of an outgoing model. Give accessories worth 25k and sell at full price by calling it a "Special Edition" rather than giving discounts of around 10 lakhs. 9.75 lakhs more in the kitty. Good Business sense right?

Re: Mercedes E-Class Edition E launched in India

The extinction edition as the kits run out and the new model is introduced. The E is a great car and Mercedes should avoid such marketing gimmicks to keep its premium positioning. If the discounts are great, not waiting for the new model is ok as the current drive trains are proven ones and the lower acquisition costs lowers the depreciation hit.

Re: Mercedes E-Class Edition E launched in India

"Edition E" badge, illuminated star and black hub caps?

Did an ex-employee of MSIL join Mercedes recently? This is such a joke.

The other markets are getting the W213 and we are getting this.

OT: That dirty right front wheel is looking so odd in that picture. I know they are on a roll, but Mercedes will do well to show a little more attention to such things.

Re: Mercedes E-Class Edition E launched in India

From other tweets, Mercedes were trying to make an emotional thing about this. This seems to be an India thing. Very rarely do Merc do "limited Editions" like AMG Black series or similar.

All Mercedes have really done - add the Command hardware from newer models + black hub caps. Stuff that a high-end audio person car do!

I bet these limited editions will get limited discounts also!

Re: Mercedes E-Class Edition E launched in India

With the amount of social media chatter and buzz surrounding this launch, I thought this would be some big update to the E class. Celebrating 20 years of E class, so much fanfare, inviting media to a big event and then presenting Edition E with illuminated emblem, black hub caps and a change to the infotainment unit is disappointing.

Why go through all that trouble to sell some 20-30 cars.

Re: Mercedes E-Class Edition E launched in India

Haha ... this is a joke. E class Edition E stands for Edition EXIT. i.e. please buy these cars before we launch the all new model.

Pet name: EEE(k)!

Wait, is that a small scratch on one of the black hub caps? Lets called that car a Limited Edition - Edition E. With exclusive scratch on one black hub. Can someone call the Press back please?

If the media visits the event, they are 'forced' to write a news story. A journalist can't visit an event and not write about it. Forget Mercedes, even the editor will be pissed off.

On the other hand, if there wasn't a media event and just a press release was emailed out, it 'may or may not' get coverage.

Thus, manufacturers will host events for the lamest of updates.

Re: Mercedes E-Class Edition E launched in India

They should have brought back the kit of the launch edition;

The above (thanks to the rims) was a much more attractive E class than this Edition E.

Re: Mercedes E-Class Edition E launched in India

Germans are known for their sense of humor and this limited edition seems to be a live example of what Mercedes has done with E Class machine !

Are they confirming in a surrogate way that they are finding it difficult to beat the other German players in Indian market and are therefore experimenting with everything possible !

This is a joke to their own goodwill in the market.

Re: Mercedes E-Class Edition E launched in India

Well I always thought that when a company launches a car and that too someone like Mercedes, they would have the cleanest of the car in the world on display. But, I am left stunned to see literally different colour front tyres in the second picture. Am I the only one who looks at all these things or has it gone un-noticed? I thought the managers would be cleaning these cars with even their tie if needed..

ha ha ha

I am laughing at the headline given to this thread. This is what makes TeamBHP such a great forum. No sugar coating of any form even if you are one of the big German.

Re: Mercedes E-Class Edition E launched in India

They seem to have forgotten the customary sticker job.
Maybe all the publicity is for their bosses back in Germany to be informed that their Indian counterparts are working hard to sell the extra 30 vehicles.
