A certain primate from our forum visited their factory in Chennai recently and saw the production lines buzzing with the Verna. Get ready for a Diwali launch, and another shake up of the market (after the Civic).

This diwali seems to more tempting this time. Has got many reasons to wait. I hope Maruti too will launch Zen around diwali.

Unlike the regular ‘patrol or interceptor vehicles’ that are already with the city police, these Accents will be allotted to each station. These vehicles will be at the disposal of officials from the ranks of a sub-inspector, inspector and assistant commissioner of that station.
Did you notice this line about the Chennai cops buying a 100 Accents? Man...thats really saying something.

I cant wait to testdrive the new Verna.

If the Verna CRDI does dish out 110 bhp (as stated by Autocar) and is priced anywhere close to the Fiesta Tdci, Ford will soon go the Corolla way (price revisions?).

I think they already are thinking on those lines. With over 60% of Fiesta sales coming from the diesel variant, they are now looking at sourcing the engines from Hindustan Motors (as against being imported currently).

Do they have 'POLICE' written on the sides, bonnet etc like in developed countires? otherwise i have an idea, remove the beacon light and people might think its my private car!!

Not the first time - before breaking ground, Hyundai flooded Chennai with 200 older Accents to fool people that this was the car being built. Maruti were taken aback when the Santro walked in instead.

Will these cars be used for grocery shopping by sahab's wife. I can imagine that Bangalore will start clamouring for these. Unlike TN where they maintain their vehicles (see the slick Qualis cruisers the highway), the parts will be sold off in no time!

Folks, there is a picture of TN police test driving the vehicle meant for them in todays Tamil newspaper Dinakaran. They are current version of Accents, not Verna.

Thats great news!

Well, dunno whats gone into my mom, after years of driving a sluggish Zen and upgrading to the GETZ last year, now she feels the GETZ is very underpowered, and wants a powerful car! huh!

So have tentetively decided to go for the NEW Accent crdi! i hope its confirmed taht the 110bhp crdi is coming to india! lets see when it launches!

I have as yet convinced dad to rather go for the current ELANTRA crdi, paying a couple of lakhs extra, rather than the New Accent! when money is not the criteria, then the Elantra looks better than the new Accent, and is in all ways more enriched than the accent. what says guyz?

As per Autocar. the CRDI engine in Verna is the first CRDI developed internally by Hyundai.
